Android devices in U.S. face more malware attacks than PCs Android devices are now attacked more often by malware than PCs, according to a report released today by Sophos, a cyber security software maker. It said that almost 10 percent of Android devices in the U.S. have experienced a malware attack over a three-month period in 2012, compared to about 6 percent of PCs. Read More ...
Infor acquires Orbis Global to boost its marketing software clout Infor has scooped up marketing resource management vendor Orbis Global in a bid to flesh out the capabilities of its Epiphany marketing suite. Terms of the agreement, which was announced Tuesday, were not disclosed. Slumping chip market may signal shift in tech industry The worldwide chip market dropped from being labeled "stagnant" to "in a slump" this year, with one analyst firm downgrading its forecast to a level that puts the entire year in a decline. IHS iSuppli announced Monday that it is downgrading its forecast for the global semiconductor market this year. Court orders patents in Apple-HTC deal to be made public Apple's patent license agreement with HTC will not be put entirely under seal, except for the pricing and royalty terms, a court in California ordered in a patent infringement lawsuit between Samsung Electronics and Apple. Judge Lucy H. Koh of U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, San Jose division ordered Monday that the patents covered under the agreement will not be sealed. AMD's new Opteron server chips target the cloud To break its slump in the server market, Advanced Micro Devices is embarking on an aggressive strategy that calls for ARM and x86 chips by 2014 and continued improvements to its Opteron line in the meantime. The company on Tuesday introduced low-power Opteron processors, which are targeted for use in cloud servers that process Web transactions. New 'Dockster' malware targets Apple computers A new piece of malicious software targeted at Apple users has been found on a website dedicated to the Dalai Lama, but one security vendor is labeling it as low risk. The malware, nicknamed "Dockster," is a backdoor that allows an attacker to control the victim's computer, record keystrokes, and export files, according to Intego, which sells security software for Macs.
