Radeon HD 7850 and HD 7770 Prices Could React to GTX 650 Ti Launch
Although not across the board, retailers are reportedly fine-tuning prices of Radeon HD 7850 and HD 7770, in anticipation of NVIDIA's upcoming GeForce GTX 650 Ti. Prices of the two SKUs could be re-adjusted to match or beat the price-performance ratio of GTX 650 Ti. According to a report, prices of Radeon HD 7850 1 GB could go down to US $159, Radeon HD 7850 2 GB to $189, and Radeon HD 7770 GHz Edition to $119. It's quite possible that the launch price of GeForce GTX 650 Ti could be in the range of $139 to $149.

ASUS Announces 4 GB GeForce GTX 670 DirectCU II
ASUS announced the GTX670-DC2-4GD5, a new GeForce GTX 670 graphics card based on the DirectCU II 2-slot design. The card is armed with 4 GB of GDDR5 memory, across a 256-bit wide memory interface, clocked at 6.00 GHz (192 GB/s). The card implements a custom-design PCB, with 6+2 phase Digi+ VRM that uses SuperAlloy chokes (which don't whine on load). The Digi+ VRM controller provides a certain degree of software voltage control using the GPU Tweak tool. The GPU is clocked at 915 MHz, with 980 MHz GPU Boost frequency. Microsoft to Roll Out Seven Patches Next Week
This coming Tuesday Microsoft will release a total of seven software updates (one rated 'Critical' and six rated 'Important') to address bugs that could lead to Remote Code Execution, Denial of Service attacks or Elevation of Privileges.

Inno3D GeForce GTX 650 Ti Pictured
Here are some of the first pictures a partner-branded GeForce GTX 650 Ti, made by Inno3D. A member of the ChipHell.com community got early access to a card, and was quick to put it under the lens. Pictured below, Inno3D's card uses a custom-design cooler that features an easily-detachable shroud, which lets you clean the heatsink and fan. The card appears to be making use of an NVIDIA-reference (or similar) PCB design. The PCB features memory pads for a 128-bit wide memory interface, and a simpler VRM compared to the GTX 660 reference PCB, which features pads for a 192-bit wide memory interface, and a stronger VRM. No other details were revealed.

BenQ Unveils the XL2411T 24-Inch Gaming Monitor
Taiwanese company BenQ is just about ready to release a new gaming-friendly monitor, the 24-inch XL2411T which features a 120 Hz refresh rate, support for NVIDIA's 3D Vision 2 technology, and a 1ms GtG response time (TN panel).

Seen below, BenQ's display also has a native resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, a contrast ratio of 1,000:1 (12,000,000:1 DCR), D-Sub, DVI and HDMI connectivity, a 0.001-frame input lag, a stand allowing for height, tilt, pivot, stroke and swivel adjustment, plus a FPS Mode, and the Black eQualizer color engine technology (which improves visibility in dark scenes). Unfortunately BenQ has yet to say when the XL2411T will become available of how much it will cost.

GeForce GTX 650 Ti Final Specifications Out
Sources among retailers confirmed what could be the finalized specifications of NVIDIA's upcoming GeForce GTX 650 Ti graphics processor. Some of these specifications were first leaked when Newegg.com accidentally listed Galaxy GTX 650 Ti GC. According to the sources, the GTX 650 Ti, which is based on the 28 nm GK106 silicon, will carry the ASIC label "GK106-220," it will be configured with 768 CUDA cores (and not 576, as earlier believed).

GeForce GTX 650 Ti will have a narrower 128-bit wide GDDR5 memory interface, holding 1 GB of memory. The source also revealed NVIDIA-reference clock speeds to be 925 MHz core, with 1350 MHz (5.40 GHz GDDR5-effective) memory, churning up 86.4 GB/s memory bandwidth. The chip's TDP is rated at 110W, and cards based on it feature one 6-pin PCIe power connector. According to older reports, the GTX 650 Ti is slated for October 9.

Logitec Also Intros a Trio of Portable DVD Drives
Logitec also introduced a trio of portable DVD drives that are Windows 8-certified, and should work smoothly with Windows 8 installations on notebooks lacking internal optical drives. The three are bus-powered, with a single cable handling power and host-connectivity. The three include the LDR-PMF8U3L, a DVD±RW/DVD-RAM drive which features USB 3.0 interface; the LDR-PMF8U2V, which has the same feature-set as the LDR-PMF8U3L, but with USB 2.0 interface; and LDV-PA8U2VBK, a DVD-ROM drive.

The LDR-PMF8U3L includes a license to Nero Kwik Burn Express Essentials, while the LDR-PMF8U2V includes one to Nero 12 Essentials. The two measure 136 x 142 x 19 mm, weighing about 300 g. The LDV-PA8U2VBK includes a license to Nero Kwik Media + Kiwi DVD, and measures 132.8 x 146 x 15 mm, weighing 250 g. The three will be available from mid-October. The LDR-PMF8U3L is priced at 5,250 JPY (US $66.8), the LDV-PA8U2VBK at 4,935 JPY ($62.7), and the LDV-PA8U2VBK at 4,725 JPY ($60).

Logitec Japan introduced the Skylink HD series of compact single-drive home NAS servers. Measuring 160 x 143 x 45 mm, the device tucks away a discrete 3.5-inch drive bay, which comes pre-installed with 3 TB or 2 TB WD Red (NAS-optimized, fit for 24x7 operation) or WD Green (energy-efficient) HDD options. The 3 TB and 2 TB WD Red-equipped models are priced at 22,980 JPY (US $292) and 16,980 JPY ($216), respectively; while the 3 TB and 2 TB WD Green-equipped ones go for 19,980 JPY ($254) and 14,980 JPY ($190), respectively. The Skylink HD series NAS servers draw power from an external AC adapter. Gigabit Ethernet is the only network interface. The units also feature a couple of USB 2.0 ports, to expand storage. Most common NAS features are included with the Skylink HD, including media streaming.

Siliconarts Inc., a Korean tech startup, developed RayCore, the real-time ray tracing graphics processor (GPU) for the first time in graphics hardware history. RayCore is the next-generation GPU that is used in rendering high-quality 3D graphics whose graphics performance surpasses that of rasterization GPU approach.

Mostly utilized in Hollywood studios in creating huge contents such as "Toy Story" and "Avatar," realistic effects are the key to differentiating the features of ray tracing technology compared to a rasterization approach. However, ray tracing was only implemented using software due to the limitations to process exponential calculations, to equip with highly expensive series of rendering gears and to process and the wait for significantly longer rendering times. In addition, it was not even implemented on a real-time basis.

MSI Announces WindTop AP1612 All-in-One PC
MSI announced the WindTop AP1612 series compact all-in-one (AIO) PC. Built for basic personal computing such as internet access and office applications, the WindTop AP1612 is a 15.6-inch AIO PC driven by Intel Celeron B830 processor ("Sandy Bridge" architecture, dual-core, 1.80 GHz, 2 MB L3 cache). The processor is backed by Intel HM65 Express chipset, 2 GB of DDR3-1333 MHz memory (expandable to 4 GB), and Intel HD graphics. The 15.6-inch LED-backlit LCD screen features 1366 x 768 pixels resolution. It features a resistive touchscreen layer. A 250 GB SATA 3 Gb/s HDD is the only storage device.

The WindTop AP1612 has plenty of network and legacy connectivity. It features two gigabit Ethernet interfaces, an 802.11 b/g/n WLAN interface, 4 in 1 Card Reader (SD+MS+MMC+XD), and a smartcard reader. Legacy connectivity includes a pair of serial COM and parallel LPT interfaces. Its body embeds a 320p web-camera, and 3W stereo speakers. Wired keyboard and mouse come included. Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit comes pre-installed. The company did not give out pricing information.
