Qualcomm takes aim at enterprise with femtocell chipset
Qualcomm has expanded its product portfolio for femtocells with a chipset that will allow the small base stations to handle up to 32 active users, opening the door for use in enterprises and metro networks, the company said on Monday. A CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) version of the upcoming chipset, called the FSM9832 (Femtocell Station Modem), will start shipping in the second half of 2011, according to Qualcomm.

Broadcom to pay $3.7 billion for comms processor maker NetLogics
Broadcom has agreed to acquire communications processor company NetLogics Microsystems for $3.7 billion, the companies announced Monday. The deal will allow Broadcom to extend its communications chip product lines, adding multi-core embedded processors and digital front-end processors for wireless base stations. Broadcom's chips are also found in smartphones, GPS receivers, and Wi-Fi modules.
