Kingston intros new DataTraveler 'secure' flash drives
Answering the call of enterprises for higher-grade safety, Kingston has developed a couple of flash drives that are claimed to deliver 'unmatched security control'. the drives in question are the DataTraveler 4000 (DT4000) and the DataTraveler Vault - Privacy Managed (DTVPM).

AMD adds five new Opteron 6100 series processors to its offer
AMD today announced the expansion of its Opteron 6100 (codename Magny-Cours) family of server processors with five new models, the 8-core 6132 HE and 6140 and the 12-core 6166 HE, 6176 and 6180 SE. All these chips are manufactured on 45nm technology and are compatible with Socket G34 systems.

Acer Iconia Smart phone comes with 4.8-inch touchscreen
Acer today introduced a new Iconia-branded mobile device, no, not a tablet, but a smartphone called Iconia Smart that runs Android 2.3 (Gingerbread), has a 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, and impresses with its 4.8-inch (1024 x 480) 21:9 touchscreen.

Intel releases Core i7-990X hexa-core CPU, cuts i7-970 & i7-960 prices
Intel has now added a new, Extreme Edition processor to its offer, the Core i7-990X hexa-core which is manufactured on 32nm process technology, has all its cores clocked at 3.46 GHz (3.33 GHz for the 980X), and comes with an unlocked multiplier. This chip has a $999 price tag.

BitFenix Shinobi midi-tower case gets video preview
After releasing the full-tower Colossus and the mid-tower Survivor, BitFenix is going smaller still as its third PC chassis will be a midi-tower named Shinobi which is actually the star of a video preview shot and supplied by Caseking.de.

SanDisk develops new embedded storage solutions for mobile devices
To bank on the increasing storage needs of next-gen smartphones and tablets, SanDisk is preparing a new line of iNAND and iNAND Ultra embedded flash drives (EFDs) which go up to 64GB in terms of capacity and come in packages as small as 11.5 x 13 x 1 mm.

LG Optimus 3D smartphone confirmed, to allow easy 3D uploads to YouTube
At the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona LG Electronics is showcasing its latest and greatest Android smartphones, and one of them is the Optimus 3D, an Android (2.2) model which not only features a 4.3-inch glasses-free 3D touchscreen, but also has a dual-lens camera for taking 3D pictures/videos.

Qualcomm preparing quad-core, quad-GPU Snapdragon chip for 2012
2011 is looking like the year of dual-core for mobile devices but come 2012 quad-core will be all the hype thanks to Nvidia's introduction of Tegra 3 and of Qualcomm's just-announced Snapdragon APQ8064 which is based on the new Krait architecture and will be made on 28nm technology.

Samsung unveils the Galaxy S II smartphone
As expected, at Samsung's pre-Mobile World Congress event the South Korean electronics giant announced the successor of its 10+ million-selling Galaxy S smartphone. Known as Galaxy S II, the new flagship phone runs Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) and should become available this month.
