Sharp recalling 9,000 32-inch LCD TVs due to flimsy neck support
Sharp, together with the US Consumer Product Safety Commission, have yesterday issued a recall for about 9,000 32-inch LCD TVs that were manufactured in China and sold in the US from March 2010 through August 2010 for about $550.

OmniVision makes 720p video-capable CMOS sensors for lower-cost mobiles
OmniVision Technologies is set on bringing 720p (@ 30 fps) HD video recording to mid- and lower-end mobile phones and to do that it has developed the OV2643 and OV2659, two cost-effective 2 megapixel system-on-a-chip (SOC) CMOS image sensors.

Lantic details its own custom, overclocked GeForce GTX 460 card

Logitech has now announced a couple of new products that are specifically made to upgrade the audio capabilities of laptops, the portable but still potent Z515 (wireless) and Z305 (wired) speakers, which are set to hit stores this month.

Motorola Milestone 2 smartphone made official
Motorola has now introduced the Froyo-flavored, and MotoBlur-enhanced Milestone 2 smartphone, the European half-brother of the Droid 2 which was released in the US last month. Unfortunately for customers on the Old Continent they will have to wait until Q4 to get the new Milestone.

BenQ shows off nReader R100 10-inch tablet in Taiwan
This week at its Global Distributors Meeting in Taiwan, BenQ has unveiled its very own Android tablet, the nReader R100. The device measures 173 x 267 x 14.4 mm and weights 700 grams, has a glossy black casing and is powered by a 667 MHz processor manufactured by Samsung (it's ARM-based for sure).

Samsung announces the SF Series laptops
Samsung Electronics is currently working on a new series of Calpella-based laptops aimed for style-conscious users in need of both form and function. Known as the SF Series, the upcoming line includes three models, the 13.3-inch SF310, 14-inch SF410 and 15.6-inch SF510.

MSI officially launches the 870A Fuzion Power Edition motherboard
MSI today introduced the 870A Fuzion Power Edition, its second AM3 motherboard to feature the Hydra 200 SoC enabling multi-vendor (Nvidia + AMD) multi-GPU setups. This board packs the AMD 870 and SB850 chips, has support for hexa-core Phenoms, and utilizes Military Class components.

Digg hires ex-Amazon exec as CEO
With Digg v4 launched and already taking criticism, Digg founder Kevin Rose has stepped down from the interim CEO position and announced that the company's new chief of chiefs is Matt Williams, formerly the GM for Consumer Payments at online seller and Kindle creator Amazon.com.

Taiwan-based MSI is keeping things quiet and raw with its latest WindBOX machine, the WindBOX III slim form factor system aimed for embedded applications. The new ultra-low power offering supports the VESA wall-mounting interface and is passively cooled, meaning it is dead silent (no fans).

Cooler Master delivers the Choiix Comforter Lapdesk
Catering to the needs of avid notebook/netbook users, Cooler Master has now launched under its Choiix brand the Comforter Lapdesk, a cooling pad / stand that can be used with mobile machines sized from 9" to 17".

HP also comes up with the ENVY 14 Beats Edition and ENVY 17 3D laptops
HP today also announced a couple of new ENVY series laptops, the 14.5-inch ENVY 14 Beats Edition which features the Beats Audio technology (and a black and red design), and the 17.3-inch ENVY 17 3D boasting Beats Audio, but also a 3D Ultra BrightView (120Hz) display.

Commodore USA to release Amiga-branded All-in-One PCs
Beside planning to bring the C64 back to life (as a ION 2-based system), Commodore USA is reviving another classic gaming brand, Amiga, thanks to a licensing agreement that enables it to make and sell Amiga all-in-keyboard PCs.

HP rolls out cooler (literally cooler) Pavilion dm3 13.3-inch notebook
Summer may be practically over but even so, HP has now introduced a tweaked version of its Pavilion dm3 13.3-inch laptop which makes use of a new cooling system based on the CoolSense technology.

HP Mini 210 and Mini 5103 added Atom N550 option
HP has now announced a little refresh of its Mini netbook line which sees the Mini 210 and Mini 5103 both being treated to some dual-core power thanks to the availability of the Atom N550. Moreover, the Mini 210 had a little makeover and is slimmer and more colorful.

Antec to showcase soundscience rockus 2.1 sound system at IFA Berlin
Antec booked a booth at the IFA show in Berlin in order to show off its latest creations, including the soundscience rockus, a 2.1 speaker system for gaming and movies that uses a proprietary 3D technology to place incoming stereo audio signals into a 3D sound field.

LG Optimus Pad exposed, claimed to be lighter than the average tablet
Not waiting for IFA Berlin to kick off, LG has yesterday showcased at its Dealer Days event the Optimus Pad, an Android-based tablet which is supposed to be faster, thinner, lighter and more innovative than similar mobile devices coming from its competitors.

Packard Bell makes Atom N550-powered dot SE netbook
Acer-owned PC maker Packard Bell is embracing the Atom N550 as well and has thus introduced a 10.1-inch dot series netbook (dot SE) that comes equipped with the 1.5 GHz dual-core CPU and is also pre-loaded with Windows 7 Starter and Office 2010 Starter.

HP and Hynix to bring memristors to market as ReRAM
Over two years have passed since HP Labs proved the existence of the memristor (the fourth fundamental circuit element in electrical engineering) and now HP and Hynix have joined hands in order to make commercial products based on it.
