First dual-core Atom for netbooks start shipping
Intel announced that the first netbooks based on its dual-core Atom N550 have started shipping. Systems like Acer's Aspire One D255, as well as unnamed models from ASUS, Fujitsu, Lenovo, LG, MSI, Samsung and Toshiba, should provide the extra speed. Intel pitches the chips as ideal for Flash video and other media where a single-core chip might struggle.

Samsung releases portable Blu-ray 3D Player
Samsung has introduced its first portable Blu-ray 3D player, alongside 3D HDTVs in an effort to make 3D products more accessible to consumers. The portable BD-C8000 has a 10.3-inch screen, built-in Wi-Fi, an HDMI 1.4a port and runs on batteries. Buyers can watch their 3D movies on the go, or connect it to a 3D HDTV via the HDMI output.

GeForce GT 430 specs leaked
A new leak claims that Nvidia is soon expected to launch a new graphics card in the near future, the GeForce GT 430. First heard of back in March, the new GPU is said by Fudzilla to have a 700MHz core clock speed, while its 128-bit memory speed is set at 900MHz. Whether it will be a retail offering or meant only for pre-assembled PCs, it remains to be seen.

Apple wants to be able to disrupt jailbroken devices
Although it was recently judged to be a legal process, Apple still doesn't want anyone to jailbreak their iPhone, iPod and iPad devices, and has applied for a patent that would give them the right to kill jailbroken devices, as well as kill stolen iPods and phones. The patent is titled Systems and Methods for Identifying Unauthorized Users of an Electronic Device , and it covers a number of security measures to protect devices from unauthorized users .
