Leadtek Unveils WinFast GeForce GTX 770 Hurricane III
Leadtek unveiled its premium non-reference design GeForce GTX 770 graphics card, the WinFast GTX 770 Hurricane III (model: WFGTX770-2GD5DF3). The card combines what looks like the old GeForce GTX 680 reference PCB with 5 phases enabled; with a custom design cooling solution. The cooler uses a large aluminum fin stack to which heat from the GPU is fed by five copper heat pipes, of which two are 8 mm-thick, and three 6 mm-thick. A pair of 85 mm fans ventilate the heatsink. The card ships with a tiny factory-overclock of 1159 MHz core, 1111 MHz GPU Boost, and an untouched 7.00 GHz memory. It features 2 GB of memory across a 256-bit wide GDDR5 memory interface. Leadtek didn't reveal pricing.

SilverStone's next-generation Fortress chassis, the FT04, is now available from Newegg for US $229. Attempting to warrant that price, this swanky new ATX full-tower from SilverStone comes in two variants, windowed and solid side-panel, each in two color trims - black and silver. The FT04 features the same inward-curved design scheme introduced by Raven RV04, and followed up by the new Raven Mini-ITX. Measuring 219mm (W) x 546mm (H) x 482mm (D), it weighs 11.5 kg. Steel makes up its framework, rear- and side-panels; while aluminum makes up its front door, and top-panel. The windowed variants use clear acrylic.
True to its lineage, Fortress FT04 keeps a focus on noise-dampening, features, and an odd motherboard orientation. In its case, the motherboard tray is oriented bottomside up (BTX-like). In addition to common ATX motherboard types, the tray can seat EATX, SSI-EEB, and SSI-CEB motherboards, which will come handy if you opt for a dual-socket workstation motherboard. The case has enough volume for add-on cards 33.7 cm long, and 17 cm tall; and CPU coolers 16.5 cm tall. A stabilizing beam works to minimize PCB bending of add-on cards. The case offers room for two 5.25-inch drives, seven 3.5-inch ones (from which two are hot-swap capable), and four 2.5-inch ones. Ventilation includes a pair of SilverStone AP182 (180 mm) front intakes building positive air-pressure inside, and provision for a 120 mm rear exhaust.

Dell Unveils UltraSharp 32 Monitor with Ultra HD Resolution
At SIGGRAPH, Dell unveiled its first UltraSharp monitor featuring Ultra HD (3840 x 2160 pixels) native resolution. The new UltraSharp 32 from Dell, as the name suggests, is a 32-incher. Based on an indium gallium zinc oxide (IGZO) panel, its color gamut spans across a gargantuan 1.07 billion colors, a 64 times increase over what conventional monitors offer, 16.7 million. The monitor will include software that lets you calibrate it including hardware access to the LUT (lookup table). Dell plans a commercial roll-out of the UltraSharp 32 in Q4-2013.

Apple today announced financial results for its fiscal 2013 third quarter ended June 29, 2013. The Company posted quarterly revenue of $35.3 billion and quarterly net profit of $6.9 billion, or $7.47 per diluted share. These results compare to revenue of $35 billion and net profit of $8.8 billion, or $9.32 per diluted share, in the year-ago quarter. Gross margin was 36.9 percent compared to 42.8 percent in the year-ago quarter. International sales accounted for 57 percent of the quarter's revenue.
The Company sold 31.2 million iPhones, a record for the June quarter, compared to 26 million in the year-ago quarter. Apple also sold 14.6 million iPads during the quarter, compared to 17 million in the year-ago quarter. The Company sold 3.8 million Macs, compared to 4 million in the year-ago quarter.

On the 17th of July, Micron Technology announced the appointment of Warren East to the company's Board of Directors, effective immediately. East served as CEO of ARM Holdings PLC from October 2001 to July 1, 2013. "We are extremely pleased to welcome Warren to our Board of Directors," said Micron CEO Mark Durcan. "Warren transformed ARM during his tenure as CEO, and we are confident his contributions will strengthen our board."
East, who also serves as director of De La Rule PLC, joined ARM in 1994 and later became Vice President of Business Operations. Within three years, he was appointed to the Board as Chief Operating Officer. Prior to ARM, East was with Texas Instruments. "I appreciate the opportunity to serve with the Micron team," said East. "With the acquisition of Elpida, Micron is well-positioned to be a growing, dynamic leader in semiconductor memory and a critical contributor to the success of customers in the storage, mobile and computing markets." "We are delighted to have Dawn join NVIDIA's board of directors," said Jen-Hsun Huang, president and chief executive officer, NVIDIA. "She has been a senior executive at one of America's great companies and has extensive experience as a company director." Hudson has served on the boards of Lowe's Home Improvement Co. for 12 years; Allergan Inc. for five years; and Interpublic Group of Companies, Inc. for two years. The Khronos Group today announced the ratification and public release of the OpenCL 2.0 provisional specification. OpenCL 2.0 is a significant evolution of the open, royalty-free standard that is designed to further simplify cross-platform, parallel programming while enabling a significantly richer range of algorithms and programming patterns to be easily accelerated. As the foundation for these increased capabilities, OpenCL 2.0 defines an enhanced execution model and a subset of the C11 and C++11 memory model, synchronization and atomic operations. The release of the specification in provisional form is to enable developers and implementers to provide feedback before specification finalization, which is expected within 6 months. NVIDIA Releases Preview Drivers with OpenGL 4.4 ICD
NVIDIA followed up on Monday's OpenGL 4.4 API launch with its first preview driver that includes GL 4.4 ICD (installable client driver). Unlike Direct3D, which comes included with Windows, OpenGL is distributed by GPU driver vendors. The OpenGL 4.4 Preview driver from NVIDIA bears the canonical version numbering "GeForce 326.29," is dated 18/07/2013, and supports GeForce GPUs from GeForce GTX 400 series onwards; and Quadro K600 onwards.
