Colorful Readies GeForce GTX 660 Glorious Mission Graphics Card Glorious Mission may not ring too many bells with western gamers, but it's a pretty popular online multiplayer shooter akin to the Battlefield franchise, based around PLA. It's only natural that graphics card makers from the mainland design special edition products around the game. It just so happens that the graphics card maker interested in Glorious Mission is Colorful, known for its over the top performance-segment graphics card designs that never cease to surprise us. Its latest creation is in on the drawing boards, and we got access. Based on the GeForce GTX 660 GPU, the new Colorful iGame Glorious Mission graphics card uses a cooler that builds on today's multi-fan aluminum fin-stack designs. The cooler uses a dual- 92 mm fan aluminum fin stack, to which heat is fed by four 8 mm-thick heat pipes, to cool the GPU. The two fans are covered by punched-metal sheets. Colorful didn't give us a specific date on its release, but we expect it to make it to this year's Computex, if not the 2013 Lunar New Year shopping season.

AMD "Never Settle" Bundle Returns with New AAA Titles AMD stumped PC gamers last October by announcing its first Never Settle game bundle that sees its various AIB partners bundle 2~4 AAA game titles with their performance-thru-extreme segment graphics cards. In a bid to overcome post-X'mas slump, and build the brand in the run up to summer, the company released its Never Settle Reloaded bundles. Based around games that launch within Q1, the bundle covers four new AAA titles: Tomb Raider (2013); Bioshock Infinite, DMC: Devil May Cry (2013); and Crysis 3. That's right, one of the biggest PC games of this season will be freely distributed with AMD Radeon graphics cards. Those buying a single Radeon HD 7900 series graphics card get Crysis 3 and Bioshock Infinite; a single Radeon HD 7800 series card gets you Bioshock Infinite and Tomb Raider (2013).

AMD Releases Catalyst 13.2 Beta Targeting Crysis 3 MP Beta, Frame Latency Issues Hot on the heels of NVIDIA's GeForce 313.95 Beta drivers, AMD launched Catalyst 13.2 Beta, targeting EA's release of Crysis 3 multiplayer open-beta. The driver improves performance by up to 15 percent, but in highly specific scenarios, vaguely put by AMD as "in high MSAA cases." There is no general performance improvement announced, but that future Catalyst releases could address performance. Catalyst 13.2 Beta also addresses frame latency issues related to three titles, TES5: Skyrim, Boderlands 2, and Guild Wars 2. Single GPU performance for Devil May Cry is improved by up to 50 percent. FSP Also Unveils 80 Plus Silver Compliant Raider Series PSUs FSP's August 2012-launched Raider series of mainstream PSUs got an efficiency upgrade to 80 Plus Silver with two new models, the 650W RA-650, and the 750W RA-750. The two feature single +12V design, handling 50A on the 650W, and 60A on the 750W models. The two are ATX v2.31 and EPS 2.92 compliant, feature most common protection features, 99% active PFC, and fixed cabling. The 650W model features two 6+2 pin PCIe connectors, while the 750W one has four. The rest of the cabling is identical: 24-pin, 4+4-pin EPS, nine SATA, three Molex, one Berg. The two are cooled by a 120 mm temperature controlled fan. Along with the Aurum 92+, the two will be available from some time in February.

FSP Aurum 92+ Modular PSUs Unveiled Fortron's channel brand FSP unveiled its Aurum 92+ line of modular PSUs. The 80 Plus Platinum compliant power-boxes will initially ship in two mid-range capacities, 550W (PT-550M) and 650W (PT-650M). The two feature Fortron's innovative FSPMIA-IC, a single chip that integrates various voltage regulation and protection functions, minimizing clutter on the PCB. Both models use a quad-rail technology, with four 18A +12V rails. The company's HybridSynergy technology allows load to be spread across the four rails. Most common protection features are covered. The two feature partially modular cabling, with the 24-pin ATX, 8-pin EPS, and a PCIe connector being fixed, while the SATA/Molex connectors and a second set of PCIe cables are modular. The two will reach stores some time in February.

NVIDIA Outs GeForce 313.95 Beta Drivers for Crysis 3 Open Beta For those interested in taking Crysis 3 Open Beta (multiplayer) for a spin, NVIDIA released the new GeForce 313.95 Beta drivers, which addresses known issues, and is features optimizations for the game. NVIDIA expects performance increments as high as 35 percent. The driver also packs performance enhancements for other AAA titles, such as SLI and single-GPU performance gains of up to 27 percent with Assassin's Creed III, up to 19 percent for Civilization V, up to 14 percent in Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, up to 14 percent in DiRT 3, up to 11 percent in Just Cause 2, and up to 10 percent each in Deus Ex: Human Revolution, F1 2012, and Far Cry 3. (PR) Seagate Technology Reports Fiscal Second Quarter 2013 Financial Results Seagate Technology plc (NASDAQ: STX) today reported financial results for the quarter ended December 28, 2012. During the fiscal second quarter, the Company reported revenue of approximately $3.7 billion, shipping 58 million units. On a GAAP basis, Seagate reported gross margin of 27.0%, net income of $492 million and diluted earnings per share of $1.30. On a non-GAAP basis, which excludes the net impact of certain items, Seagate reported gross margin of 27.6%, net income of $523 million and diluted earnings per share of $1.38. Cash flow from operations in the quarter was $844 million and the Company returned $1.1 billion to shareholders in dividends and share redemptions. Cash, cash equivalents, restricted cash, and short-term investments totaled approximately $2.0 billion at the end of the fiscal second quarter. "Seagate is executing well in an environment where customer demand forecasting is challenging," said Steve Luczo, Seagate's chairman, president and chief executive officer. "Looking ahead, we will continue to manage our business conservatively to the demand environment, focus on profitability and effectively invest for market leadership in storage for mobility, cloud and open source. MSI Outs S30 Sleek 13.3-inch Notebook MSI rolled out the S30 13.3-inch notebook, which misses Ultrabook fame by, well, a centimeter (thickness). Measuring 324 x 227 x 22.8 mm (LxWxH), it weighs 1.4 kg. Its 13.3-inch screen packs 1366 x 768 pixels resolution. Under its hood is an Intel Core i3/i5 "Ivy Bridge" dual-core processor (various options), up to 16 GB of dual-channel DDR3-1333 MHz memory (options), and Intel HD graphics. A 500 GB HDD is standard issue, but a 64 GB mSATA SSD can also be opted for. Connectivity includes USB 3.0, HD web-cam, THX TruStudio Pro audio, gigabit Ethernet, 802.11 b/g/n WLAN, Bluetooth 4.0, SD/MMC card reader, and HDMI display output. Windows 8 comes pre-installed. The S30 is expected to occupy a sub-$700 price-point.

Gigabyte Intros Radeon HD 7750 Graphics Card with 2 GB DDR3 Memory Gigabyte introduced a cost-effective Radeon HD 7750 graphics card, bearing the model number GV-R775D3-2GI. The card swaps out the standard 1 GB GDDR5 memory for 2 GB of DDR3 memory clocked at 1.60 GHz, which no doubt halves memory bandwidth while doubling the memory amount. The card is hence expected to be cheaper than its GDDR5 counterpart. The GPU is clocked at 800 MHz. The card uses a non-reference fan-heatsink with spirally-projecting aluminum fins that are ventilated by a large 100 mm fan. Display outputs include two DVI, and one each of HDMI (gold-plated connector) and D-Sub. The card is priced around $95, with a factory overclocked (850 MHz core, same memory) variant going for $100.

Tranquil PC Outs Cases for Intel NUC British silent PC maker Tranquil PC released passive-cooled all-aluminum cases for Intel's NUC (next unit of computing) form-factor, the NUC-BY (for Intel D33217CK board) and NUC-YE (for Intel D33217GKE). Both models measure 110 x 164 x 47 mm each, their bodies are ridged to double up as heatsinks for the CPU, PCH, and other hot components on the system board. The company claims the aerospace-grade aluminum used keeps the CPU 5 to 15 °C cooler than even the reference fan-cooled case. Both cases are priced at £99.00 ($156).
