Amazon's Silk Browser Has Serious Security Concerns
The folks at ZDNet say they have serious security concerns with Amazon's Kindle Fire Silk browser.
And to think I was worried because Facebook was tracking you on the Web whenever you were on a site with a Facebook like button on it! That, while sneaky and underhanded, was nothing. When you'll be using your Kindle Fire's Silk Web browser everything you do on the Web will be made part of your permanent record.

How to Land a Job at Apple, Facebook, or Google
Looking for a job in the tech industry? Want to land a job at Facebook, Google or Apple? This infographic might help. A lot of the information is helpful but some of it is downright depressing (1,000,000 applications for 1,000 jobs at Google).
It's no secret that the economy is in the doldrums. With the unemployment rate nearing 10 percent and the poverty rate the highest it's been since 1993, the U.S. economy is looking bleak. One bright spot: the U.S. Commerce Department reported recently that orders for computers and electronic products rose 1.3 percent in August.

Are Netflix Cancellations Slowing Down?
According to a new survey, things might be looking up for Netflix as far as cancellations go. Then again, the survey was extremely small (only 250 people), and only tracked current customers.
"We believe our survey shows that subscriber cancellations are stabilizing after being higher than expected for the majority of Q3," Jaffray wrote in its report. "While we continue to expect elevated churn over the next few quarters, the risk of a mass exodus appears to be moderating following our mid-September survey."

ASUS Crosshair V Formula AM3+ Motherboard
The fellas at Neoseeker have the ASUS Crosshair V Formula AM3+ motherboard strapped to the review bench today for a little review action. For comparison purposes, you can see our evaluation here.
The Crosshair V Formula is the cream-of-the-crop AM3/AM3+ motherboard with so many features, most users will probably not even use half of them. AMD recently broke world records using this very motherboard thanks to some seriously heavy duty cooling. We don't got liquid helium, but we still got to put this bad boy to the test. See how much it can squeeze out of the Phenom II in our latest motherboard review!

Fired HP CEO Walks With $13M
Wow, CEO for less than eleven months and you get $13,000,000 severance package? You and I would be lucky to get thirteen bucks and a swift kick in the ass. The sad part is the company's market value fell $40B with this guy at the helm and he still gets all that money.
Apotheker's parting package includes a $7.2 million severance payment and a $2.4 million bonus for his performance while he was CEO. He also will keep restricted stock currently worth about $3.7 million. The value of Apotheker's other stock awards will depend on how the company fares in the next few years, according to documents filed Thursday.

Senator Wants Call Centers To Identify Location
So you want to require that all call centers must identify their location? Okay, then what? How is knowing the location of the call center going to change anything?
"I don't know about you, but I have called for help sometimes and I can't get them to tell me where they are, (in cases) when I've been frustrated because there's been a language barrier," said McCaskill during a news conference on the floor of the call center at Missouri Book Services in Columbia. "I think (the legislation) gives a boost to American-centered call centers because I think most Americans would prefer to use a call center that's located here in the United States," she told the Missouri News Horizon.

Righthaven's Losing Streak Continues in Colorado
Continuing a rather impressive losing streak, the copyright trolls at Righthaven have once again been slapped down by the courts. At what point do you just give up and stop filing baseless copyright cases?
In what is becoming a well-settled pattern, Righthaven again finds itself on the losing end of a motion, with its case thrown out and owing the defendant – here, Leland Wolf, proprietor of the It Makes Sense Blog – costs and attorneys' fees for bringing a baseless copyright case. The lawsuit, Righthaven v. Wolf, is also notable for being the leading case among more than 50 that were filed in Colorado. Pending a motion to dismiss, the Colorado court stayed the remaining cases.
