Windows 7 Becomes The Fastest Selling OS In Microsoft's History
While speaking at the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media, and Telecom Conference, Peter Klein, Microsoft's chief financial officer, revealed some interesting numbers about Windows 7, Xbox LIVE, and a few other Microsoft products. More specifically, Microsoft has sold 90 million copies of Windows 7 to date, making it the fastest-selling operating system in history. In addition, Windows XP may finally be on its way out as more and more enterprise users make the switch to Windows 7. "We're now having conversations

Mio's Moov V780 MID/GPS Device Gets Powered By Tegra
There's no doubt that tablet PCs are all the rage in 2010, but that big-screen bandwagon seems to be bleeding over into various other realms of consumer electronics. Take Mio, for example. The relatively unknown navigation company has made big waves this past week at CeBIT thanks to the unveiling of their Moov V780. What makes this unit stand out from similar devices from Garmin, TomTom and all of those other guys is the massive display. At 7" diagonally, it's easily one of the largest GPS panels out there. The

Apple Now Blocking Wi-Fi Finding Apps, Sparks Debate Over Competition
People don't pay much mind to the fact that Walmart, Sears and loads of other retailers shy away from selling wildly explicit material, but when it comes Apple, it seems that everyone is keeping a close eye on what they do. Just a few months after the company announced that it would be yanking some sexually-related apps from the App Store (and taking a sufficient amount of heat in the process), the company now seems to be doing a similar thing to apps of a much less risque description.According to a new report,

Sony Readies Products To Rival Apple: Will Others Follow?
Do you know who is currently the world's most "admired" company? According to recent reports, that would be Apple. Even though the company has less than 10% of the global PC operating system market share, Steve Jobs has managed to create a force that has permeated throughout the consumer electronics realm, and the mindshare battle is clearly being won by those at 1 Infinite Loop. But one of the biggest (if not the biggest) company in all of CE doesn't exactly like that, and they're finally fighting back. Sony

Sony Readies Products To Rival Apple: Will Others Follow?
Sony has been lagging behind in many respects for years now. They haveforced people to use their proprietary formats in music and memorycards, and they have been slow to listen to consumer demands. Theirdesign edge hasn't really dulled, as their WEGA HDTVs and VAIOnotebooks are amongst the sexiest on the market. But design isn'teverything, and they haven't really been competing in terms of priceand features when compared to smaller startups and larger corporationswho have adapted to consumer demand.
According to a new report in the Wall Street Journal, Sony is lookingto take on Apple. Head to head, no holds barred. Reportedly, they willbe "developing a new lineup of handheld products, including a smartphone capable of downloading and playing videogames." That's inaddition to a "portable device that shares characteristics of netbooks,electronic-book readers and handheld-game machines." Sony's Dash isalso an interesting take on the widget device for homes, and the SonyOnline Service will also be used to deliver television content over theWeb, probably to compete with iTunes.
Many of the upcoming plans are still under wraps, but one thing is forsure: companies are finally waking up and realizing the threat that isApple. Google's Android has really put pressure on Apple to improve theiPhone OS, and now Sony is getting serious about fighting the giant aswell. It's wild that Apple has managed to not only "matter" in theseareas over the past half-decade, but actually lead the way. We'relooking forward to some healthy competition; Apple has ruled the roostfor too long in our opinion.

How long until L3 kicks in?
So first AMD and now Intel are using L3 caches in their processors. Now I was looking into the performance gain from an L3 cache, and in most cases it isn't much, if any. But thats because most applications don't use it. So now that its becoming more of a standard, I wonder how long it will be until the L3 starts getting used enough to where it will make a real difference. It seems to me to be similare to how dual core processors started out,
So I was just wondering what you guys think. How long will it take?
Sory I'm at work, and have to run. I'll try to post some refrences latter.

Windows 7 Becomes The Fastest Selling OS In Microsoft's History
In addition, Windows XP may finally be on its way out as more and more enterprise users make the switch to Windows 7. "We're now having conversations with the majority of our enterprise customers who are making plans to deploy Windows 7," Klein said.
Klein also looked ahead to some of the new Microsoft products that are in the pipeline including Windows Phone 7, Natal for Xbox 360, and Microsoft Office 2010. "That's probably the richest pipeline of product delivery we've had in my eight years at Microsoft, and possibly in the history of the company," Klein said.
According to Klein, Xbox LIVE now has more than 23 million members worldwide. To compare, Sony's PlayStation Network exceeded 20 million members early last year. Microsoft's Bing search engine continues to grow in popularity and thanks to recent regulatory approval of the Microsoft-Yahoo deal, the numbers should continue to increase.
Moving forward, the cloud will be a big part of Microsoft's three screens strategy. According to Klein, Microsoft's "strategy and our vision is to have the most complete and consistent set of customer and user experiences across all devices and across all delivery models….We'll deliver a common set of user experiences across PCs and phones and TVs all connected by the cloud."

Overclocking - Is it worth it?
In the coming months I am planning on getting a solid computer featuring the i7 CPU's. More specifically I plan on getting the new PC from cyberpowerpc. Now, while browsing a plethora of hardware you can't help but notice all the "OC Certified" parts.
Simply stated, when you overclock you are pushing your computer up 10-20%, right?
So, with the i7 series already having great performance, is it even worth it to spend considerably more money?
-Thanks guys
