Major League Gaming Out Of Business, Assets Sold To Activision Blizzard
MLG, which had held video game tournaments across the US and Canada, is officially "over," having sold practically all assets for $46 million.

Some speculate that the majority of the sale will go towards paying off MLG's debts, leaving little to go around for the remaining stockholders. MLG has filed for multiple debt financing rounds this year alone, for a sum of over $6 million.

McAfee's Everykey Can Unlock Your Phone, Accounts, Doors, And More
Is having a master key an awful idea, or do you think we're headed toward this kind of thing in the future?

When Everykey - which supports Windows, OS X, Linux, Android, and iOS (requires jailbreaking) - comes under the specified proximity of a device - up to 3 metres - it unlocks the device - be it your phone, your account, your computer. What's more, when you walk away from your device, it automatically unlocks them too.

Microsoft Edge Keeps Losing Users Despite Windows 10 Push
I've never given it an honest look since I'm too invested in Chrome and Firefox, but is it really that bad? What killer feature do you think it needs to attract users?

Edge's performance is not at all the one we expected it to be, as the browser keeps seeing users go and loses ground in the race against its rivals. In November, for instance, Edge was used by 2.81 percent of the desktop PC consumers, so it lost 0.56 percent in just one month.

2015: Disclosed Software Vulnerabilities Led By OS X, iOS, And Flash
Microsoft could be considered the worst offender if you total up by vendor, but when you look at it based on marketshare, isn't OS X being first on the list kind of shameful?

A healthy dose of critical thinking is in order because Apple and Microsoft have complex operating systems to build and maintain, compared to a vendor who only publishes applications and development kits, and accordingly would be expected to have higher overall numbers. For example, Adobe continues its reputation for vulnerabilities across its products, including Flash, Air and Acrobat.

Warner Announces 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Titles
4K Blu-ray players and movies are expected to be on full display at CES next week, and studios are steadily announcing what movies they'll be releasing on the format first. I thought it'd be worth noting that many of these titles will technically be upscales due to the 2K digital intermediate process that most modern films undergo.

…it will initially release four titles on the new format: "Mad Max: Fury Road," "San Andreas," "The Lego Movie" and "Pan." The studio gave no specific release date, but said these four titles will be "quickly" followed by new theatrical features issued on the same day as their regular Blu-ray Disc and DVD releases, along a selection of catalog titles throughout the year including "Man of Steel" and "Pacific Rim."

So it's finally happening. I presume that people's minds will be blown at how Apple managed to develop a revolutionary screen technology that can display perfect blacks.

Rumor: Xbox One Getting New Polaris-Based GPU
There is mounting evidence that the Xbox One is getting a substantial refresh. Do you think we are actually getting a more powerful console, or just a more efficient one?

Microsoft and AMD have been secretly working together to make a more powerful GPU for the Xbox One, and since the GPU is embedded in one chip, it means Xbox One will get a new APU. One can wonder what architecture the CPU part of the APU will be based on (Zen perhaps? ) , but some console users have noticed the name "Xbox One Polaris" flashed during Netflix usage with their Xbox One.

Satya Nadella Admits Microsoft's Phone Share Is Unsustainable
Despite the company's less than admirable phone market share, Microsoft is willing to truck on due to their cross-platform philosophy and trusts that their more successful ventures will draw developers back in.

The focus on mobile experiences makes sense for a company trying to push into cloud services, especially because mobile as a category been a disaster for Microsoft. The latest Gartner report estimates that the company's share of the mobile market is a measly 1.7%. Nadella admits that's unsustainable, but argues that the company is already trying to get to a world where the device matters less than the services it is accessing.

Samsung Invents Foldable Smartphone With Hologram And Projector Features
The other features sound like gimmicks to me, but I like the idea of returning to clamshell designs. Sure, the phone won't be as thin, but it'll also be more resistant to screen damage or bending.

Samsung's latest patent application shows a new hinge system that will support bending a single large display in half when the smartphone is closed or folded over as noted in our cover graphic. The key new features that stand out in Samsung's latest iteration of their foldable smartphone design include the integration of hologram and projector components.

Google Is Considered A 'School Official?'
How in the world can Google be considered a "school official?" I can't think of any reason for schools to be sharing student information with Google.

Google is a major player in U.S. education. In fact, in many public schools around the country, it's technically a "school official." And that designation means parents may not get a chance to opt out of having information about their children shared with the online advertising giant.
