We have translations that will be completed in five languages, with the English version featuring full voice acting. Thimbleweed Park will be ported over to Android and iOS as well, which is great to see.

Rob Gilbert and Gary Winnick, the developers behind Thimbleweed Park said in a Kickstarter update "The support for Thimbleweed Park has been completely and totally overwhelming. Booting Up in the Gaming World: PC gaming starts here
Has one of those next gen games finally caught your eye? Or maybe all of your friends are talking about their new PCs and favorite online games and you want to get involved? Regardless of the reason, here are some helpful tips when setting out to buy a gaming computer.

TweakTown image booting-up-gaming-world-pc-starts-here

1) Functionality:

First ask yourself: Am I a casual gamer or a hardcore gamer? It's the same question as: What do I want this computer to do? Is it simply a gaming console or will it be an everyday machine that your kids and wife will use to check email and Facebook? The reason you need to answer these questions is gaming PCs have hardware that may not be necessary unless you're going to run your games at optimal graphic settings.

If you're a casual gamer, forgo high-end video cards; although they are the best on the market, they limit you to a desktop machine. As a new PC gamer, there are plenty of options that have the hardware to play games, but also have the proper functionality for everyday stuff at a reasonable price.

2) The Games Matter:

The games you're interested in make a big difference when it comes to the computer you should get. If you're looking to run optimal graphics, sound, shading, etc. while playing Battlefield Hardline you might want a high-end video card. This isn't to say you won't be able to play without it, but all games have specified minimum requirements as well as recommended requirements. It should be noted that some games don't run well on minimum requirement machines, so it's a good idea to exceed these requirements, if possible.

In contrast, if you're more interested in indie gaming, check out PC Mag's best gaming computers. You're typically going to want 4GB of RAM at the very least, but 8GB is more functional and reliable. And it's also important to keep in mind how fast technology is changing. 8GB of RAM was just overkill five years ago. Now it's the norm. Even 4GB of RAM is enough for Elegy for a Dead World, in which you explore alien planets inspired by poets of the Romantic era and progress through the game by completing writing prompts. And it's plenty to run FTL: Faster Than Light, in which you captain a two dimensional space craft through hostile territory in order to deliver secret plans you've stolen from the empire.

3) The Online Craze:

Online gaming has really taken off. WoW is certainly passed its heyday, but with games like League of Legends and Dota 2 making big splashes in eSports with prizes exceeding a million dollars in winnings, sometimes a good desktop is what is truly needed. The reason is that building your own desktop is the only way to have the very best. That MSI GTX 980 Gaming video card is just the beginning. Now you'll need to research high performance CPUs, like an AMD FX-9590, or FX-8320. Not to mention an up-to-date sound card. It's important to keep in mind that there are a lot of options out there when building your own desktop and market research is important, especially as technology improves.

Samsung begin production of the first 8-Gigabit LPDDR4 Mobile DRAM
As according to their newly issued press release, Samsung announced today that mass production has begun for the industry's first 8 gigabit low power double data rate 4 (LPDDR4) mobile DRAM.

TweakTown image samsung-begin-production-first-8-gigabit-lpddr4-mobile-dram
This technology is claimed to be based on their 20-nm process technology, stating that LPDDR memory is generally used as 'working memory' for mobile devices around the globe.

Samsung's Executive Vice President of Memory Sales and Marketing is excited given this news, comenting that "by initiating production of 20nm 8Gb LPDDR4, which is even faster than the DRAM for PCs and servers and consumes much less energy, we are contributing to the timely launch of UHD, large-screen flagship mobile devices," further adding "as this major advancement in mobile memory demonstrates, we will continue to closely collaborate with global mobile device manufacturers to optimize DRAM solutions, making them suitable for next-generation mobile OS environments."

This new technology is claimed to offer twice the performance and density when compared to 4gb LPDDR3. Providing an I/O data rate of up to 3,200 Mbps, this new DRAM advancement can support UHD video recording and playback, alongside continuous shooting of high-resolution imagery with other 20 megapixels.

Samsung is looking to push hard into the advancing RAM market, pushing this DRAM into mass production as soon as possible alongside providing their 8Gb DDR4 DRAM for servers.

Seagate will be releasing a 10TB HDD next year
Seagate has teased that it is working on a 10TB HDD for release next year, revealing the news that it will be using shingled magnetic recording (SMR) technology to get the 10TB HDD into the market in 2015.

TweakTown image seagate-releasing-10tb-hdd-next-year
The company also hopes to use heat assisted magnetic recording (HAMR) technology going into the future, after it uses SMR for its 10TB HDD. The storage giant revealed the massive news with Akiba PC Hotline during its latest interview, stating that it's possible to hide some of SMR's drawbacks by installing large DRAM caches on the HDD. Unfortunately, the upcoming 10TB HDD is not going to break speed records, with the SMR technology - and other factors - holding it back.

We can expect Seagate's upcoming 10TB drive will feature six 1.66TB SMR platters when it launches sometime next year.

24" 144hz monitor for $199 with free shipping to Aussies from Kogan
Often seen sitting in the headlines due to their amazingly priced self-branded offerings, Kogan hits the market hard yet again with a crazy-priced 24" 144hz gaming monitor coming in at only $199 AU.

TweakTown image 24-144hz-monitor-199-free-shipping-aussies-kogan
According to some user reviews, Kogan's self-branded products can be a little hit and miss. There are reports of some products being a little too cheap in design and feel, but I'm sure that's exactly what you'd expect from a monitor that's around half the price in Australia from competitors BenQ and ASUS.

Featuring a 144hz refresh rate and a 2ms response time, this 1080p HD monitor is also pre-installed with Kogan's Pro-Eye technology. This feature claims to help you play for extended periods by adjusting the screen brightness depending on the intensity of lighting within your room, helping minimize eye strain and fatigue and maintain focus.

Also coming with 2x 2W speakers and your standard 1x D-sub, 1x HDMI inputs, you can mount this monitor to your wall through Metric M4 screws. According to their website, this monitor has been viewed over 505 times today alone and the currently listed price sits at $30 under their 'normal' offering.

We can't find any indication as to if this monitor is currently on a $30 special with free shipping, or if $199 is their usual price. Either way it's extremely cheap.

Sony Pictures was ravaged, but other cybersecurity questions remain
The catastrophic data breach of Sony Pictures helped reveal a major issue that many Americans often ignore: the important need for proper cybersecurity, as companies and government agencies are under attack. Most data breaches occur silently, with companies being breached and often not realizing for many months that data has been stolen.

TweakTown image sony-pictures-ravaged-cybersecurity-questions-remain
"From a critical infrastructure and economic perspective, we've seen a lot worse than Sony," said Jeff Bardin, Treadstone 71 cyberintelligence training firm, in a statement to NBC News. "Let's put it in the context of the real issues: attacks on our power grid, our banks, are happening."

It might not matter how it occurs, as long as people become more aware that cybersecurity will remain a significant problem for years to come. Whether it's small hacker groups - or organized state-sponsored cybercriminal groups - they love stealing US data, which often means consumer personal information.

FAA, drone industry trying to educate drone operators before Christmas
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has teamed with drone manufacturers and groups to launch the Know Before You Fly campaign, aimed at educating drone operators about proper - and safe - drone flight.

The effort warns drone operators to fly their craft below 400 feet, learn to fly with local clubs, take a lesson before flying, and to stay away from crowded areas. As more first-time drone operators take to the skies, there is growing concern of potential incidents with aircraft - and other citizens on the ground, in case of drone crashes and other problems.

"There is a lot of excitement and enthusiasm around [drones], and the technology is becoming the must-have holiday gift," said Michael Toscano, president of the Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI) group, in a statement. " The 'Know Before You Fly' campaign fills a critical education gap just in time for the holiday season. We want to ensure that all prospective operators have the tools they need to fly safely and responsibly."

Report: South Korea nuclear facilities targeted in cyberattack
South Korea is under cyberattack from an unknown source, as its Korea Hydro and Nuclear Power Co. has been breached, with "non-critical" data being stolen. The country's nuclear installations and atomic reactors aren't at risk, but cybersecurity experts remain highly concerned the country's nuclear reactors could be at risk from future attacks.

TweakTown image report-south-korea-nuclear-facilities-targeted-cyberattack
"This demonstrated that, if anyone is intent with malice to infiltrate the system, it would be impossible to say with confidence that such an effort would be blocked completely," said Suh Kune-yull, from the Seoul National University, in a statement to reporters. "And a compromise of nuclear reactors' safety pretty clearly means there is a gaping hole in national security."

As organized cyberattacks from foreign states continue to launch attacks, stealing data from utility providers and other critical infrastructure remains high on the list.

Chinese hackers aiming to compromise Afghan government website
The "Operation Poisoned Helmand" operation, as part of the "Poisoned Hurricane" campaign, is reportedly targeting visitors to Afghan government websites, according to the ThreatConnect cybersecurity company. The attacks reportedly originated from China and looks to compromise Internet users visiting gov.af websites - using corrupted JavaScript files.

TweakTown image chinese-hackers-aiming-compromise-afghan-government-website
"We found continued activity from Chinese specific actors that have used the Afghan government infrastructure as an attack platform," said Rich Barger, ThreatConnect CIO, in a statement to Reuters.

As the United States and NATO slowly wind down operations in Afghanistan, it looks like China wants to step up and become more active in the volatile country. This isn't the first time Afghan ministry websites have been targeted, with malware found on justice, foreign affairs, commerce, industry and education ministry websites in the past.

Madonna is paranoid about piracy, songs still leaked online
Madonna was forced to release six songs from her new album because 13 pre-released recordings - her entire album - were posted online. Madonna and her manager, Guy Oseary, have taken to Twitter in an effort to identify how the music, along with other data, managed to find their way to the Internet.

TweakTown image madonna-paranoid-piracy-songs-still-leaked-online
"We don't put things up on servers anymore," Madonna recently said in an interview with Billboard. "Everything we work on, if we work on computers, we're not on Wi-Fi, we're not on the Internet, we don't work in a way where anybody can access the information."

Despite increased security protocols Madonna tried to put in place, that doesn't mean her music was safe - it would appear it was an outside attack, as unpublished photos of Madonna were also made available at the same time "Rebel Heart," one of the songs from her album, were leaked online.

Internet in North Korea bounced offline due to suspected DDoS
North Korea is having Internet problems, as the country - which has limited and restricted Internet access - with problems dating back a few days, though the nation's infrastructure took a severe beating over the past few days.

TweakTown image internet-north-korea-bounced-offline-due-suspected-ddos
"Their networks are under duress," said Doug Madory, Dyn Research Internet analysis director, in a published statement. "I haven't seen such a steady beat of routing instability and outages in KP before. Usually there are isolated blips, not continuous connectivity problems. I wouldn't be surprised if they are absorbing some sort of attack presently."

Internet access in North Korea typically is reserved for government and military users, and it's unknown who is behind the attack. Internet outages wouldn't impact normal citizens of the country, but could set a dangerous precedent if the United States is responsible for the attack.

The North Korean government offered this statement over the weekend: "The Army and people of the DPRK are fully ready to stand in confrontation with the U.S. in all war spaces including cyber warfare space to blow up those citadels."

Sony's decision to rely on Mandiant helping FireEye's stock value
Sony Pictures is working to rebuild itself following a nasty cyberattack and subsequent data breach, courtesy of the Guardians of Peace. As such, the company has chosen cybersecurity firm FireEye's Mandiant to help clean up the mess - and FireEye likely couldn't be any happier with its decision.

TweakTown image sonys-decision-rely-mandiant-helping-fireeyes-stock-value
Following the news, FireEye's stock value has increased, because of the high-profile nature of the data breach - and the fact that Sony Pictures could have chosen a few other large, high-profile firms. On the first day of news Mandiant was chosen, FireEye's shares increased 4.8 percent up to $32.39, and should continue to receive additional stability.

Here is what The Street Ratings recently offered: "We rate FireEye a SELL. This is driven by some concerns, which we believe should have a greater impact than any strengths, and could make it more difficult for investors to achieve positive results compared to most of the stocks we cover. The company's weaknesses can be seen in multiple areas, such as its feeble growth in its earnings per share and deteriorating net income."

Thunderbolt Station 2 - One Cable Does it All

The Thunderbolt Station 2 allows users to connect all their devices through a single Thunderbolt cable. Featuring dual Thunderbolt 2 ports for integrating a 4K workflow, the Thunderbolt Station 2 allows users to connect a high-resolution 4K monitor to the HDMI port. This is ideal for professional users who need to connect modern 4K displays to their computers.

"The power of Thunderbolt 2 allows the Thunderbolt Station 2 to be the central hub of modern 4K workflows. Not only can users connect a 4K monitor, they can also daisy-chain 4K capable devices such as Thunderbolt storage for the ultimate 4K workflows", said Kosta Panagos, Director of Marketing at CalDigit.

The Thunderbolt Station 2 features three SuperSpeed USB 3.0 ports. The front facing USB 3.0 port features Stand-Alone Charging. This means that users can charge their devices without the Thunderbolt Station 2 being connected to a computer. This is incredibly convenient for charging iPhones or iPads if the computer is being used for something else.

The Thunderbolt Station 2 now features dual eSATA 6G interfaces for connecting eSATA devices, such as RAID storage. Having eSATA along with USB 3.0, and Thunderbolt 2 is incredibly useful for professional users who need to have the convenience of multiple interfaces.

Something that sets the Thunderbolt Station 2 apart from other Thunderbolt docks is the ability to be used in either a horizontal or vertical position. This means that if desk space is at a minimum, the Thunderbolt Station 2 can be used in a vertical position in order to free up space.

Wi-Fi is incredibly convenient, but for the most stable internet connection Gigabit Ethernet cannot be beaten. The Thunderbolt Station 2's Gigabit Ethernet port allows users to connect to a more stable internet connection. A lot of modern computers are missing Ethernet ports in order to become more portable. The Thunderbolt Station 2 brings back the Ethernet port for uninterrupted downloads.

Connecting headphones and microphones to a computer can be a tedious task. However, the Thunderbolt Station 2's Audio In and Out ports make it incredibly convenient to disconnect these devices with just a single Thunderbolt cable. This is especially useful for people recording podcasts, or listening to music.

Samsung Introduces SE790C Curved Monitor
Samsung Electronics introduces its newest and most advanced curved monitor, model SE790C, delivering an enhanced immersive and comfortable viewing experience for multi-media entertainment and multi-tasking. Alongside an optimized curvature design, ultra-wide quad high definition (ULTRA-WQHD) resolution and a superior contrast ratio, the new 34-inch curved monitor SE790C offers enhanced productivity and entertainment functionality within a sophisticated and ergonomic design.

TweakTown image samsung-introduces-se790c-curved-monitor
"All curves are not created equal. Samsung's SE790C offers an industry-leading and award-winning curvature for a truly immersive, comfortable and differentiating viewing experience," said Seoggi Kim, Senior Vice President, Visual Display Business, Samsung Electronics. "Combined with superior picture quality, productivity and entertainment-enhancing technology features, and design sophistication, our latest curved monitor delivers on our brand promise to push the limits of what display solutions and innovative technology can deliver."

Immersive and Comfortable Viewing Experience

The innovative 3000R(curvature radius of 3,000mm) design of the SE790C provides a noticeably different viewing experience from traditional flat screen monitors and competitive curved monitors. Unlike flat screen monitors where the viewing distance differs from the center of the screen to the edges, the screen edges of the SE790C more closely match the natural curve of a viewer's eyes. As a result, the SE790C creates a distortion-free viewing experience with less eye strain and enhanced comfort for viewer.

In fact, the curved monitor's superior eye comfort has been validated by TÜV Rheinland, a leading international certification organization. The rigorous certification process involved an evaluation of the monitor's color presentation, color uniformity, viewing angle, and curved space and flicker-free operation.

An edge-to-edge curve also enables panoramic-like viewing, creating a wider and fuller field of view, and a more immersive visual experience. The monitor's optimal curved design creates a high 3D-like effect ratio that makes the screen seem larger than a flat screen of the same size. This 3D-like effect increases when depth becomes larger or the viewing distance becomes closer.

Vibrant Picture Quality

To ensure multi-media content can be enjoyed with the finest picture quality, clarity and intensity it deserves, the Samsung SE790C features a 21:9 aspect ratio and ULTRA-WQHD resolution of 3,440 by 1,440 pixels to deliver stunning picture quality.

Complemented by a wide viewing angle, the monitor's best-in-class static contrast ratio of 3,000:1 and 300 cd/m2 typical brightness result in dynamic lighting and shading for lifelike pictures with deeper blacks, vivid colors and sharper detail. The extra-wide viewing angle of 178 degrees horizontally and vertically optimizes the viewing experience from any position and minimizes picture distortion.

Optimized for Productivity and Entertainment

An array of features take multi-tasking, gaming and movie watching to the next level. The SE790C comes equipped with Picture-by-Picture (PbP) and Picture-in-Picture (PiP) 2.0 functions for enhanced work efficiency. PbP allows users to easily connect two devices, such as a desktop, laptop, gaming device (Xbox, PlayStation, etc.) or Set-Top Box (STB), and view both simultaneously on the monitor without compromising screen real-estate. PiP 2.0 enables multi-tasking without the need to downscale content. The monitor also is equipped with four USB 3.0 super-charging ports to eliminate the need for a docking station and maintain 24/7 connectivity for all your devices.

The SE790C also offers a variety of entertainment-enhancing capabilities, including a unique game mode, high-quality stereo sound and fast response time. Using the game mode, the curved monitor intelligently detects changes in scenes by correcting blurry images, enhancing colors and altering contrast for improved visibility of in-game action. The monitor's embedded 7-watt dual stereo speakers also deliver a high-quality stereo sound and a richer experience, while a response time of four milliseconds ensures gamers see even the fastest on-screen action clearly and smoothly without motion blur or ghosting.

Premium and Ergonomic Design

Constructed from sophisticated metallic materials, the SE790C is designed with a clean and understated look that ensures nothing distracts viewers from the curved screen. The elegantly curved T-shaped, height-adjustable stand (HAS) and clean back with hidden VESA bracket support work together to enhance the monitor's sophisticated and ergonomic design to maximize productivity and comfort.
