High-end GeForce GTX 780 Ti coming in mid-November
Nvidia announced a number of things at its event in Montreal today, and Scott live blogged them all. One of the big reveals was that of the GeForce GTX 780 Ti, a "new high-end enthusiast GPU" scheduled for a mid-November retail release.
Few specifics were discussed during the keynote, but Nvidia CEO Jen-Hsun Huang described the card using a panoply of adjectives. The GTX 780 Ti ...

Nexus 5 makes appearance on Google Play store
Google's Nexus 5 smartphone briefly appeared on the Play store yesterday. The listing has since been removed, but not before Engadget grabbed a few details about the upcoming handset. The big news is the price—$349 for the 16GB version—which matches the initial launch price of the Nexus 4. The old Nexus handset was introduced with a cheaper 8GB variant at $299, but it doesn't look like there's a lower-capacity version of the Nexus 5. (Those are off-contract prices, by the way.)
According to a leaked service manual , there will be a 32GB model. Other specifications mentioned in that document include a 2.3GHz Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB of RAM, and a 4.95" IPS display with a 1080p display ...

Thanks to consoles, AMD posts first profit in over a year
AMD promised a return to profitability in the second half of 2013, and it has delivered on that promise. The company's third quarter financials, released earlier this afternoon, show net income of $95 million on revenue of $1.46 billion. This marks AMD's first profit following four consecutive quarters of net losses. The last time the chipmaker turned a profit was in Q2 2012—and even that came after losses in the prior two quarters.
Sales of console chips can be credited almost entirely for AMD's return to the black. The company's revenue from processors and discrete GPUs declined in the third ...

Internal AMD benchmarks show R9 290X beating GTX 780
Journalists (including TR's Scott Wasson) are gathered in Montreal this week for an Nvidia event. It so happens that AMD is right next door to the Nvidia venue, armed with one of its upcoming Radeon R9 290X graphics cards—and it's taken the opportunity to release some internal benchmarks comparing that card to Nvidia's GeForce GTX 780.

Upcoming games, Shield discounts part of Nvidia's holiday GeForce bundles
Nvidia has announced a holiday game bundle for select GeForce graphics cards. The wording is a little awkward, so I'll just cut and paste.Sounds to me like the GTX 770, 780, and Titan get Assassin's Creed and Splinter Cell in addition to the new Batman release. Oddly, a bunch of the GTX 660 and ...

happening in here is also shrouded in secrecy--although we know it's not
the introduction of a new GPU. So there's that.
