Brace for Cylons, In Win Tòu Inbound
Initially displayed at Computex this year, In Win's latest marvel bares the name Tòu, which in Mandarin Chinese stands for transparency, or the phenomenon of light passing through a non opaque medium. A concept which In Win's designers managed to beautifully and successfully evoke with their latest creation. The Tòu employs two distinct and interestingly married materials in its construction. The case panels are made of tough, 3mm thick tempered glass, which achieves mirror like properties after receiving a special, transparent coating. While the frame is made of 2-4mm think aluminium, which is manufactured through a labor intensive process known as Sand Casting, which employs sand molds to produce the intricate shapes displayed by this design.

The Tòu is a full tower chassis, with seven PCI slots, supporting ATX motherboards and smaller form factors (mATX & mITX). It can accommodate four 120mm fans, one frontal intake and three top exhaust fans, where there is also sufficient space for a large 360mm radiator. Aside from the On/Off function, the touch controlled front panel also allows the used to cycle through the integrated fan controller speed steps and to adjust the lighting level inside the case. When the system is turned Off and no lights are On inside the case, the Tòu becomes completely opaque and all the panels become highly reflective, mirrors essentially. But when the system is On and so are the lights inside the case, the panels become transparent and the internals visible, an uncomplicated yet striking visual effect.

Nanoxia Previews Three New Cases
After their fairly recent endeavor in the case market, which debuted with two well received cases (by reviewers and the market as well), the Deep Silence 1 and Deep Silence 2, Nanoxia is now expending its PC Case lineup with three new products. Creatively named Deep Silence 4, Deep Silence 5 and Deep Silence 6, the three new cases follow the same design language and general concept of the previous two models of the series.

Bitspower Also Releases Their New Full Cover TITAN Waterblocks
These new full cover blocks from Bitspower, designed for the GeForce GTX TITAN, do arrive six months late to the party, the time period from NVIDIA's official TITAN launch, an interval in which every single competitor that planed to launch a TITAN water block did it already. In fact there are plenty of TITAN water blocks from a variety of vendors, populating the shelves of specialized shops, while the Bitspower blocks still haven't reached retail. Which does make one wonder, more so after the Bitspower AIZ77ITXD launch (a new water block designed for a previous generation Motherboard), is being consistently late to market a question of policy, or maybe style?

The Bitspower VG-NGTXTITAN full cover block comes in no less that eight variants, all differences between them being solely chromatic. The design of the block is fairly uncluttered without being plain, it features the Bitspower tribal logo and the product code, in contrasting colors, on the acrylic top cover. The base plate comes in two versions, copper or nickel plated, and is made from C1100 Copper.

New ASUS P8Z77-I Deluxe Waterblock from Bitspower
Bitspower, the Taiwanese water cooling and modding specialist, recently launched the first water block designed for ASUS' previous generation mITX wonder board, the P8Z77-I Deluxe. While no longer the best mITX board on the market, the Haswell launch parade made sure of that, the P8Z77-I Deluxe did develop quite a following, particularly with the SFF crowd, selling in good numbers for its segment and making the rounds in a plethora of SFF projects that sprung on various enthusiast boards around the web.

The Bitspower AIZ77ITXD block makes use of high quality acrylic for the top cover and nickel plated copper for its base. The top cover comes in two versions, either transparent acrylic (Clear) or a semi-transparent black acrylic (ICE Black). The block's design approaches the full cover idea to a larger degree than any other motherboard block I've seen, accommodating all the heat generating components on the board, the CPU, the Z77 chipset and the vertical VRM as well. A design concept that Bitspower refers to as Unibody Style Construction Design (U.S.C.).

Now, a Mechanical Keyboard for Developers
Jeff Atwood, behind the "Coding Horror" blog, collaborated with WASD Keyboards to co-develop a mechanical keyboard for quick, comfortable typing, with a consistent tactile feedback that doesn't come with the clicking noise associated with mechanical keyboards. Called CODE Keyboard, the contraption is a no-nonsense 102-key mechanical keyboard with white LED back-lighting, so you can code away into the night. Its gaming credentials aren't bad, either. CODE Keyboard packs Cherry MX Clear switches, which are said to provide great tactile feedback, without a noisy activation. The switches and other electronics are placed on a thicker 2-layer fiberglass PCB, with a steel back-plate that grounds the keyboard. This adds to its 1.2 kg weight.

The CODE Keyboard supports both USB and PS/2 inputs, when plugged into USB, it offers 6-key roll-over; and N-key roll over, when wired to PS/2. You'll notice that the key between Ctrl and Alt has no label, that's because it can be used as both Win (on Windows) and Command (on OS X), by flicking a row of DIP-switches at the back. The same switches can be used to change the keyboard layout from QWERTY to Dvorak or Colemak, disable the Win key, and change Caps Lock to Ctrl. Its context-menu key doubles up as a Fn (function) key, which gives it six multimedia keys over existing ones. In the package, you get a detachable USB cable, a PS/2 adapter, and a tool to remove and place keys, to clean or mod the keyboard. All this, with no drivers or software whatsoever. Find this the holy grail of keyboards? Prepare to input $149.99.

Buffalo Rolls Out External Blu-ray XL Writers with Optional Power Input
Typical officegoers often don't understand the underlying power distribution with desktop USB hubs, which plug into the computer's rear USB ports, and give out four downstream ports on the desk. When a power-hungry USB device like external HDD or external optical drive is plugged into such downstream ports, it falls short of power, and doesn't work reliably. To address just that, Buffalo rolled out a new line of portable Blu-ray XL writer drives, which give you the flexibility of both bus-only power, and DC power input (referred to by Buffalo as "power boost").

The new BRXL-PC6VU2-C line of portable Blu-ray writers, pictured below, are capable of running bus-powered. If the drive detects it isn't getting enough power from its USB port, it lights up an LED, which prompts you to plug in its AC adapter, which makes up for the power deficit. When bus powered, the drive is limited to low read/write speeds, to keep power draw from the motor low (reliable, prevents write errors). This neat little arrangement makes sure the drive runs smoothly when it's plugged in directly to a computer, and gives you the flexibility of plugging it into a hub. Measuring 145 x 153 x 19 mm (WxDxH), the drive weighs about 340 g. Blu-ray XL 4-layer and 3-layer discs are written at 4X, single- and double-layer Blu-ray at 6X. When bus-powered, it writes all kinds of Blu-ray RE drives at 2X. When "power-boosted," those speeds go up to 6X. DVDs are written at speeds of up to 8X, CDs at 24X. Slated for an early-September launch in Japan, these drives are expected to go for 10,920 JPY (US $112).
