Small Canadian Town Gets 1,000 Mbps Broadband
Google Fiber not coming to a town near you? Screw it, do what this small Candian town did, build a fiber network and start their own ISP! Thanks to Alex Krstic for the linkage.

On Thursday, the board of O-Net gave approval for residents to get access to a full gigabit (or 1,000 megabits) per second of bandwidth for the same price that they currently pay for a guaranteed download speed of 100 megabits per second — $57 to $90 a month, depending on whether they have bundled their internet with TV and phone service.

Microsoft Allowing Indie Self-Publishing
It looks as though Microsoft is allowing independent studios to self-publish on the Xbox One. While I am sure people are still going to whine about the console, this is another step in the right direction.

Our vision is that every person can be a creator. That every Xbox One can be used for development. That every game and experience can take advantage of all of the features of Xbox One and Xbox LIVE. This means self-publishing. This means Kinect, the cloud, achievements. This means great discoverability on Xbox LIVE. We'll have more details on the program and the timeline at gamescom in August.

IN WIN D Frame Review
Our evaluation of the IN WIN D Frame limited edition open-air chassis is now online for your viewing pleasure. If you are looking for a truly unique case, make sure you read this before spending your hard earned money.

The first BlowHole system we ever built back in 1997 was hacked out of what was a very sturdy In Win steel case and I could still stand on top of it when it was done. Today's In Win Case, the "D Frame" is incredibly sturdy as well, but certainly brings with it a "less is more" theme considering it is lacking a traditional enclosure.

Google Accidentally Uncovers Chinese Car Theft Ring
I'm not sure if the "cool" factor outweighs the "creepy" factor in this case. What other things will Google accidentally uncover.....about YOU?!?!

The surprising thing is how much this supposedly offline fraud caught the attention of Google's AdWords cops. The team is only looking for fraudulent offers made on the AdWords network, but scams like the car-swapping trick blur the lines between the crimes that happen on the network and the crimes that take place after the fact. More importantly, AdWords' crime-spotting tools don't distinguish between online and offline scams. They're just looking for suspicious behavior.
