AMD Announces Embedded G-Series System-on-Chip Platform
AMD today announced the new AMD Embedded G-Series System-on-Chip (SOC) platform, a single-chip solution based on the AMD next-generation "Jaguar" CPU architecture and AMD Radeon 8000 Series graphics. The new AMD Embedded G-Series SOC platform further signifies a strategic push to focus on high-growth markets outside the PC industry, with an emphasis on embedded systems. The announcement was made at this year's DESIGN West expo.
Embedded systems are increasingly driving intelligence into new areas of our lives, from smart TVs and set-top boxes to interactive digital signage and informational kiosks. This supports greater productivity and connectivity and is expected to be a strong driver for Surround Computing, an area of substantial growth in the computing industry. Among the forces that are enabling this next-generation computing era are single-chip, SOC solutions that offer smaller size, higher performance and more energy-efficient processors.

Kathryn Kirton, 35, was head of PR at Activision when she got carried away with the 'glamorous and luxurious' world of public relations, Blackfriars Crown Court heard. She was in charge of the budget for a major film premiere-style launch of the game, but instead siphoned off thousands of pounds.

Trademark Troll Loses In Court
Something tells me we haven't heard the last of this guy. At least the courts finally canceled his trademarks so he'll have to start from scratch now.
Langdell had previously filed lawsuits and claimed damages from EA over its use of the word edge in 2008 game Mirror's Edge. He also squabbled with Future Publishing regarding Edge magazine - despite the fact they had already licensed the mark from him.

Intel's Long Awaited Return to the Memory Business
The staff at Real World Technology has published an article on Intel's return to the memory business. Definitely worth reading, so hit the link and check it out.
The answer to these questions was alluded to in a recently announced paper from Intel at the VLSI Symposium in Kyoto. The VLSI Symposium is a joint conference held in June that focuses on circuit design (akin to ISSCC) and manufacturing (like IEDM), which rotates between Hawaii and Japan (hosted in Kyoto for 2013). According to the advance program, paper 2.1 is entitled "A 22nm High Performance Embedded DRAM SoC Technology Featuring Tri-Gate Transistors and MIMCAP COB," with nearly 30 co-authors from Intel's Technology Manufacturing Group. After 28 years, Intel is returning to the DRAM business; a twist of fate that is surely ironic to Gordon Moore and Andy Grove.

Paypal Withholds Game Dev's Indiegogo Funding
Anyone with a PayPal account knows that you are at the mercy of the company any time they decide to withhold your funds. Not a big deal when it is $20. A pretty big deal when it is over $800,000 in Indiegogo funds.
PayPal froze the account over concerns that those who didn't get the characters they wanted would ask for a "chargeback", leaving the online payment system on the hook for up to $700,000. "Whee! Paypal's freeze on our account is making it so that I can't pay people today," Lab Zero CEO Peter Bartholow wrote.
