techPowerUp! (PR) Asetek's ISAC Eliminates Need for Active Cooling In Harsh Data Center Environments Asetek today announced that its ISAC (Inside Server Air Conditioning) has been selected by the DoD (Department of Defense) to participate in its TROPEC (Transformative Reductions in Operational Energy Consumption) program. TROPEC is a collaborative Department of Defense (DoD) and Department of Energy (DOE) program that targets game-changing enhanced energy efficiency for critical applications at military forward ISACoperations, such as data centers and communications. ISAC is the next generation of Asetek's RackCDU data center liquid-cooling product line. Unlike the traditional RackCDU products, which can eliminate 80% of server cooling load in the data center, ISAC eliminates the need for active cooling altogether by removing 100% of server heat through Asetek's proprietary liquid-cooling solution. As a result, ISAC offers significant energy savings and enhanced system reliability in harsh operating environments. Read More ...

NVIDIA GeForce GTX Titan PCB Pictured...Sort Of Here's the first blurry picture of the GeForce GTX Titan PCB. Among the structures we can make out on the surprisingly not to busy metropolis is the ASIC itself, which uses an integrated heatspreader much like every other high-end NVIDIA GPU. The card draws power from a combination of 6-pin and 8-pin PCIe power connectors. It is then conditioned to the various power domains by what appears to be an 8+2+2 phase VRM. One can easily make out 12 memory chips, but that's just on the side that we see. We know for a fact that there are no 4 Gbit GDDR5 memory chips that graphics card makers can buy (at least not at a viable price), and so this card should most definitely use 12 chips on the reverse side. GeForce GTX Titan 6 GB Listed by Danish Store A store listing by Danish online retailer Proshop reveals a couple of things, one, that NVIDIA's next flagship graphics card will indeed be called "GeForce GTX Titan," and two, it could be out of reach of a vast majority of enthusiasts. The retailer is listing an ASUS-branded card for 5,820.80 Danish Krone (US $1,046), and that's before Europe's famous taxation kicks in. After, that goes up to 7,276 DKK ($1,307). If one has to infer performance of the card from this price, given that NVIDIA won't botch up price-performance in relation to GTX 690, the GTX Titan should perform on-par, or outperform the GTX 690. Even if it's a tiny bit slower, NVIDIA could focus its marketing efforts on the card's 4-way and 3-way SLI capabilities, using which one could outperform GTX 690 QuadSLI setups. Read More ...
ASUS Intros F2A85-V Socket FM2 Motherboard ASUS augmented its socket FM2 motherboard lineup with the F2A85-V, a lite variant of the F2A85-V Pro the company kicked off its Trinity APU-compatible motherboard lineup with. The new F2A85-V trims down on a few things over the -Pro variant, such as simpler independent VRM and FCH heatsinks with no heat-pipe connecting them, fewer APU power phases, and a lighter expansion slot layout that isn't ideal for multi-GPU setups. To begin with, the F2A85-V features a 6-phase APU VRM that draws power from a 4-pin ATX connector, compared to the 8-phase one drawing from an 8-pin EPS, on the F2A85-V Pro. The FM2 socket is connected to four DDR3 DIMM slots, supporting a maximum of 64 GB of dual-channel DDR3-1866 MHz memory; and a single PCI-Express 2.0 x16. Other expansion slots include a PCI-Express 2.0 x16 (electrical x4, wired to the A85X FCH), two PCI-Express 2.0 x1, and three legacy PCI slots. Read More ...
(PR) Micron Technology Samples New Single-Sided DDR3 DRAM Module Micron Technology, Inc., one of the world's leading providers of advanced semiconductor solutions, and TE Connectivity (TE), a world leader in connectivity, announced today the availability of a Single-Sided SODIMM and a low-profile single-sided, double data rate 3 (DDR3) SODIMM connector solution to take advantage of the burgeoning market for Ultrabook devices, convertibles, tablets and other thin and light devices. Aimed at providing a reduced-height memory solution for the ultrathin computing market, the new Single-Sided SODIMM, developed by Micron, has components on either the front or back side of the module, but not both. When paired with the single-sided DDR3 SODIMM connector from TE, the total z-height of the overall solution from the motherboard is just 3mm, a 35 percent savings compared to 4.6 mm for a standard SODIMM solution. Micron's Single-Sided SODIMM is available in a 4 GB, single-rank, x8 configuration. In addition to a reduced height, this new module is built using 30nm DDR3L-RS components that consume less power in standby compared to standard DDR3. Additionally, Single-Sided SODIMMs are pin-to-pin compatible with current DDR3 modules, making them backward compatible with existing DDR3 SODIMM connectors. Read More ...
