Brothers Plead Guilty To $23M Online Scam
I'm not criticizing anyone but how is it possible that two guys made $23 million in bogus online orders on Nordstrom's website...and no one caught on for almost two years?

In January 2010, the brothers discovered they could exploit a computer programming error in Nordstrom's ordering system by placing orders that would ultimately be blocked by Nordstrom. No merchandise would ship and nothing would be charged to their credit card. However, Nordstrom would unknowingly continue to compensate FatWallet for the order, and the brothers would still receive the cash back credit from FatWallet. Between January 2010 and continuing through October 2011, the CHIU brothers collectively placed more than $23 million in fraudulent orders through Nordstrom.com. The fraudulent ordering resulted in Nordstrom paying $1.4 million in rebates and commissions, with more than $650,000 in fraudulent cash back payments going directly to the brothers.

IBM Patents Multi-Touch Floor Covering
A patent on multi-touch floor covering?

An approach is provided that that uses an electronic multi-touch floor covering that has numerous sensors to identify shapes. The electronic multi-touch floor covering identifies a shape of an object that is in contact with the surface of the electronic multi-touch floor covering. An entity record is then retrieved from a data store, such as a database, with the retrieved entity record corresponding to the identified shape. Actions are then retrieved from a second data store with the actions corresponding to the retrieved entity record. The retrieved actions are then executed by the computer system.

Patch Your PC
Unless you like being vulnerable to remote code execution, I recommend you hit your Windows Update button and get your patch on. Hurry up, go patch that POS PC of yours. Seriously, we're all waiting on you.

This security update resolves a privately disclosed vulnerability in Windows common controls. The vulnerability could allow remote code execution if a user visits a website containing specially crafted content designed to exploit the vulnerability. In all cases, however, an attacker would have no way to force users to visit such a website. Instead, an attacker would have to convince users to visit the website, typically by getting them to click a link in an email message or Instant Messenger message that takes them to the attacker's website. The malicious file could be sent as an email attachment as well, but the attacker would have to convince the user to open the attachment in order to exploit the vulnerability.

Megaupload Host Refuses to Delete User Data
If this isn't one of the most screwed up love triangles in existence, I don't know what is.

Months after the Megaupload raids and arrests, the fate of the 1,103 servers hosted at Carpathia is still undecided. While the feds won't mind if the servers are wiped clean, Megaupload, the EFF and the MPAA want the data to be preserved because it contains critical evidence and irreplaceable user data. Carpathia is sympathetic to these concerns and has put the fate of Megaupload's data in the hands of Judge O'Grady.

Bulletstorm Sequel Cancelled; PC Piracy Mentioned
It looks like there won't be a sequel to Bulletstorm after all. Piracy, among other things, was mentioned as a reason for the cancellation.

Just to stir the pot a little, the story concludes with Capps' comment that sales of the PC version may have been harmed by piracy: "We made a PC version of Bulletstorm, and it didn't do very well on PC and I think a lot of that was due to piracy. It wasn't the best PC port ever, sure, but also piracy was a pretty big problem."
