AMD: Zambezi will launch in Q4

AMD finally shipped the first Bulldozer CPUs yesterday, in Interlagos form. Interlagos is a server only CPU which combines two 4-module Bulldozer dies in MCM to make the first 16-core CPU. In a blog post celebrating the same, AMD's Director of Product Marketing (for server/workstation/embedded products) John Fruehe shed some light on the client/desktop version in the comments section. Mr. Fruehe commented, "Interlagos is a server part, there is no desktop variant. The client version of Bulldozer is Zambezi and it will launch in Q4."

Report: Intel Sandy Bridge-E on November 15th

Despite all the troubles Intel has had with Sandy Bridge-E and the X79 chipset, DonanimHaber reports that it is set to release as early as November. The Platform Launch is specified as Weeks 46-47, which covers November 14th to November 27th. However DonanimHaber inisists the final release date is November 15th.

NTT Docomo announces two tablet devices for LTE Xi

Today, NTT Docomo unveiled two tablet devices which support the telco operator's extra-high-speed next-generation LTE Xi (read “Crossy”) service. The two tablets are the Samsung GALAXY Tab 10.1 LTE SC-01D and Fujitsu ARROWS Tab LTE F-01D, and both will be available in October next month

NVIDIA: 28nm Kepler production in Q4 2011, release in 2012

In a talk with Fudzilla, NVIDIA's PR Representative Ken Brown revealed that next-gen 28nm Kepler is on track to hit production by the end of this year. However, the release of retail SKUs, will only be in 2012, presumably Q1. This roadmap is no surprise and has been rumoured even before Kepler taped out.

Rumour: AMD to release unlocked multiplier A-Series APUs

Xbitlabs reports that AMD is preparing two unlocked multiplier series APUs. As we reported back in July, the A8-3870K will release in Q4 2011. The A8-3870K features a clock speed of 3.0 GHz, 100MHz higher than the A8-3850, but is in every other way identical to the A8-3850. AMD is also planning to release an A6 APU with an unlocked multiplier - A6-3670K. Similarly, it features a base clock speed 100MHz higher than the A6-3650, at 2.7 GHz.

HighPoint launches RAID enabled USB 3.0 host controller, throws in some Mac support

We've already written about HighPoint's peculiar RocketU 1144A USB 3.0 card and now the company has gone and made things even more confusing with the introduction of the RocketU 1144AR. The R on the end of the model name stands for RAID and no, we have no idea why you'd need a four port USB 3.0 controller with RAID support. Oh and for those of you that own a Mac or maybe a Hackingtosh, HighPoint has also launched a couple of OS X compatible cards.

OCZ's mSATA SSDs appear in Japan ahead of launch

If recent developments are anything to go by, the next SSD battlefield is mSATA and OCZ is getting ready to join Intel, Sandisk, Kingston and several other companies with a couple of new products line that might prove to be popular in the upgrade market and possibly even with notebook manufacturers. OCZ new Nocti and Strata series of mSATA SSDs should arrive later this month and we're looking at a pair of very different solutions here.
