The Nike Air Mag - the closest you'll get to the auto-lacing Back to the Future II shoes
Nike have unleashed their Air Mags and wow, they look amazeballs. The upper of the shoe is made of reinforced mesh, the outer sole is lined with LED panels that will light up like futuristic shoes should. The Air Mag is rechargeable and will stay lit for 5 hours - just enough time for the dancefloor in case you're the type of guy who likes shuf, shuf, shufflin'. These shoes are the closest replica to the shoes Marty McFly wore sans the auto-lacing tech.

The shoes aren't just pretty, the proceeds of sale go to the Michael J. Fox Foundation in the hopes of finding a cure for Parkinson's disease. Only 1500 pairs will be made and there are auctions for the Air Mags on eBay with the auction starting at 11:30 EST at nikemag.eBay.com.

Sony tease 4k projector for home cinema, 4 times the resolution of 1080p
Enjoy your 1080p screen? Well, maybe it's time for an upgrade. Sony have released their VPL-VW1000ES projector that has a 4k resolution - that's 4096x2160 pixels folks! More than four times the resolution of a 1080p picture. What would you do with it? Well, Sony Pictures has more than 60 theatrical releases shot in native 4K resolution, but there is no way of getting that onto a disc and into customers hands right now with current technology.

Sony tease 4k projector for home cinema, 4 times the resolution of 1080p
Sony reps do claim however, that they're in talks with the Blu-ray Disc Association to iron out a standard compression method to squeeze 4K movies onto discs and they have already promised that the upcoming Spider-Man movie will be the first one. But, Spider-Man has a release of July 2012 which should tell you that Sony don't want to talk specific dates and their calendar definitely doesn't have any definitive strikes on it.

The VW1000ES does sport a 4K upscaler, meaning that it will boost your current 1080p content to new heights. It also features 2,000 ANSI lumens, which Sony claims is enough to throw up a screen of 200-inches, and also offers 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio thanks to Sony's Iris3 technology and latest SXRD panel. Control over IP is included as is the ability of 3D. Sony are set to launch this puppy in December and hopes the price will be "under $30,000".

Sony - will this get delivered to all TweakTown staff as a Christmas present? I hope so!

Max Payne 3 has been slated for a March 2012 release, I guess they knew it was the month my birthday is in and decided it would fit well. The release will include both console and PC versions and the most surprising news is that Rockstar is including Multiplayer with Max Payne 3. The multiplayer is said to have "a deep reward and levelling system" and will deliver an experience that "dynamically alters maps and mode progression for all players in a match".

Why do games require multiplayer and levelling up? Why can't they just make amazing single player games and especially with Max Payne 3, nail down that Slow-mo. Two new screenshots for your pleasure are included!

Catering to the more budget conscious builders, Corsair has just launched a new mid-tower chassis with an associated price tag of just $99.

The Carbide Series 400R from Corsair looks to give a good balance of features and typical innovative Corsair thinking considering the aforementioned price point it is confined to. Latest news has it we'll see Sandy Bridge-E on Nov 15th!
In a bit of a turn-around of events corrosponding to Intel's much awaited high-end Sandy Bridge-E platform, it's looking like the company is really pushing to get it out as soon as possible. It wasn't all that long ago we were hearing rumours of the company taking it easy and focusing on an early 2012 launch, but the latest word brings much more pleasant news for the many of us enthusiasts eager to get our mits on it.

Latest news has it we'll see Sandy Bridge-E on Nov 15th!
Slides via the folks at DonanimHaber indicate that we will witness launch on week 46 of 2011, which means right around November 15. Both a range of processors and Intel branded desktop motherboards will accompany that day's launch and should be ready for purchase immediately. We would be anticipating the big name motherboard vendors to have their first wave of LGA2011 offerings readied up at that time too.

Processor wise, the slide confirms we'll see three LGA2011 processors grace us at launch; the Core i7-3960X Extreme Edition 6-core Unlocked processor, Core i7-3930K 6-core Unlocked processor and Core i7-3820 4-core processor. And as for accompanying Intel branded X79 Express desktop boards, there will be the DX79SI and DX79TO.

Sapphire Pure Platinum Z68 (Intel Z68) Motherboard Review
Introduction

Sapphire Pure Platinum Z68 (Intel Z68) Motherboard Review
We've looked at a lot of motherboards lately and the chances are if you're reading this, you know we're going to be looking at another one that carries with it the much loved Z68 chipset that launched a little back.

The board we're looking at today comes from the team over at Sapphire and let's be honest, they've been a little hit and miss when it comes to motherboards. The original X58 we looked at from the company was great, the P67 on the other hand not so much. The A75 was awesome and showed us some amazing overclocking capabilities.

So if we go off the trend that we've been seeing from Sapphire since the re-launch of their motherboards, the Z68 won't be quite the shining light that we hope. But we always hope to go against the trend and Sapphire are a little later to the market when compared to other companies, so hopefully they've done a good job with the board that will let it shine in a market that is flooded with great Z68 options already.

Before we find out just how it went on the performance side of things, though, there are a few things we need to do first. We need to see what's going on with the package, once that's done we'll take a closer look at the motherboard itself before we jump into the BIOS to see what's going on there.

Once that's done, we'll get into our testbed and cover the overclocking side of things before we get into the most important stuff - performance. Before we get into that and wrap everything up, we need to first check out the package.

The Package

Looking at the box design, we can see it's very similar to previous Sapphire boards we've looked at. It's a pretty funky black / reflective silver setup. The back of it also gives us a run down on some of the main features that are offered and the whole "PURE" thing is explained too.

Moving inside the package, it's all pretty bare. We've got a Quick Installation Guide, Driver CD, I/O back plate and six SATA cables.
