COMPUTEX : Tablet PCs and e-Book Readers Makers Unshaken by Japan Earthquake

A recent survey conducted by The Taipei Computer Association (TCA) shows that the recent Japan earthquake did affected the exhibitors' confidence slightly. A survey conducted on international buyers shows similar result. Overall, the COMPUTEX Exhibitors Index (CEI) is still good standing. There is one sector remains unshaken, which is the PC system and photo-electronics where most of the exhibitors of that segment are the manufacturers of Tablet PCs and e-Book readers. However, manufacturers in the components and storage sectors are pretty much shaken as the earthquake casted doubts over the buying power of the Japanese market.

Samsung investigating on spyware installed on its laptops

Usually, your PC may get infected with spyware when you visit dangerous websites, install unknown applications or open questionable attachments in your email inbox. Well, of course, another way would be the manufacturer preloads the spyware in the PC. Apparently, on a guest posting on NetworkWorld, keylogging software was found on a newly bought Samsung laptop.
Update: Samsung Korea issued a statement saying that
that the company preinstalls keylogger on R525 and R540 laptop computers are false.

Reports from Germany point towards a GeForce GTX 560 (minus 'Ti') being in development. The GTX 560 will replace the GTX 460, as a competition to the Radeon HD 6800 series. The GTX 560 is expected have one SM disabled - much like the GTX 460 - for a total of 336 SP, 56 TMU, with 32 ROP and a 256-bit memory bus like the GTX 560 Ti. The GTX 560 will clocked much higher than the GTX 460, in the range of 800 MHz.

NVIDIA today has finally released the first set of drivers from R270 branch which is version 270.51. It boasts numerous, notable performance gains in standard gaming modes, SLI gaming modes, and 3D Vision gaming modes. Games such as Dragon Age II is notably faster in GTX 580 SLI config while others have a few percent of performance improvements. 3D Vision and 3D Crosshair performance has been improved as well.
