
Futuremark announces PCMark 7
Futuremark, the developer of the world's most popular benchmarking software, announced PCMark 7 today, a new benchmark offering complete PC performance analysis for Windows 7. PCMark 7 includes 7 separate test suites combining more than 20 individual workloads covering storage, computation, image and video manipulation, web browsing and gaming. A release date has not been announced though the official website states that PCMark 7 is coming soon.

Sony preparing Chrome OS-based VAIO laptop
Sony is reportedly set on releasing special VAIO series mobile PC, a laptop/netbook, or better yet, a smartbook that is powered by Nvidia's Tegra 2 SoC (System-on-chip) and runs Google's delayed Chrome operating system. Sony's first Chome OS device is said to have a 11.6-inch (1366x768) display, the mentioned Tegra 2 chip, 1GB of RAM, a 16GB eMMC for storage, WiFi, a keyboard with wide (18mm) keys, and a battery allowing for 8 hours of operation.

Kinect hacked to run on PlayStation 3
There is a new report about Microsoft's Kinect motion control system which has been hacked to run on Sony PlayStation 3. In this video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4QnWDRF9w7k), the hacker connects the Kinect to his laptop, running the PrimeSense drivers.

Smartphone Medfield Atom coming this summer
Intel didn’t forget its promise to continue making the CPUs that might find its way in phone - back at Cebit there was a word about a Nokia coming before the end of the year with MeeGo and Atom CPU inside, but we still have to get some better details about it. Intel strategy is to have an Atom processor optimised for an open source versions of Android in Q3 2011. Intel hopes to have it within the Q3, so between July and end of September 2011. The new chip, codenamed Medfield is the one that Intel targets for the phones.
