
PhotoFast Announces GMonster3-XV2 Series SATA SSD
Flash memory expert PhotoFast expanded its line of ultra-high performance SSDs with the GMonster3 XV2 series, which are based on the 2.5-inch SATA form-factor, making use of SATA 6 Gb/s interface. The drives use a Marvell-made controller, which combined with MLC NAND flash chips, churns out transfer rates of up to 500 MB/s read and 450 MB/s write. The drive supports the TRIM garbage-collection feature that keeps write performance up to the mark at all times. Available in capacities of 64 GB, 128 GB, 256 GB, and 512 GB; the GMonster3 XV2 drives will be priced at $110, $200, $400 and $800, respectively, when initially released in Japan, later this year in April.

Enermax to Showcase New Cooler, Fans at CeBIT
PC cooling, power, casing and accessories company Enermax is set to unveil a new cooler and fans among other things at the upcoming CeBIT event. The company is preparing a high-performance, tower-type, dual-fan CPU cooler. The unnamed cooler uses a "Vortex Generator Flow", design to improve heat dissipation. The heatsink is ventilated by two Enermax twister-bearing fans in push-pull configuration. Enermax is also readying a series of T.B.Silence fans that will be available in several speed and size configurations. The fans will use 4-pin headers that give users PWM-based speed control.

Cougar Readies High-End PSU and Case for CeBIT
HEC/Compucase brand Cougar's showcase for CeBIT 2011 will include two premium products, the Cougar Platinum series 80 Plus Platinum compliant PSUs, and Cougar Evolution ATX Mid-Tower case. The sporty-looking Cougar Platinuim can deliver at least 90% efficiency on all loads. The first model in the series delivers 700W of continuous power, and probably features modular cabling. The Cougar Evolution is an all-black mid-tower featuring numerous gamer-friendly features. It includes USB 3.0 front-panel ports, a vast drive rack featuring six 5.25" bays, and a side-window. Not much more is known about these two products, but are worth looking out for at CeBIT.

(PR) NVIDIA Reports Financial Results for Fourth Quarter and Fiscal Year 2011
NVIDIA today reported revenue of $886.4 million for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2011 ended Jan. 30, 2011, up 5.0 percent from the prior quarter and down 9.8 percent from $982.5 million from the same period a year earlier.
On a GAAP basis, the company recorded net income of $171.7 million, or $0.29 per diluted share, compared with $84.9 million, or $0.15 per diluted share, in the previous quarter and GAAP net income of $131.1 million, or $0.23 per diluted share, in the same period a year earlier. GAAP gross margin was a record 48.1 percent compared with 46.5 percent in the previous quarter and 44.7 percent in the same period a year earlier.

The series includes the 33.8cm (13.3") Satellite R830, the 35.6cm (14.0'') Satellite R840 and the 39.6cm (15.6'') Satellite R850. Thanks to a sophisticated heat management system Toshiba has managed to integrate Intel's latest full-performance CPUs into the slim casings. The Satellite R800 series models are estimated to be available during the second quarter 2011 throughout Europe, Middle East and Africa.

Sharkoon Intros DriveLink USB 3.0 SATA Dock
Sharkoon rolled out a nifty little gadget that gives you quick and fast access to HDDs, SSDs, or pretty much any SATA device. The DriveLink USB 3.0 from Sharkoon is quick to snap on to any SATA device with its standard SATA link/power connector, and gives fast access to it over USB 3.0. The device supports HDDs with capacities up to 2 TB. Measuring 58 (L) x 56 (W) x 21 (H) mm, the device connects to its host using a USB 3.0 cable (backwards compatible with USB 2.0, as well), and powers the drive and itself using a 12V DC input. It also includes a one-touch backup feature. Using the bundled backup software, users can quickly sync/backup data between the host and the drive at the press of a button. The DriveLink USB 3.0 from Sharkoon is priced at €21.
