The PCS+ series
To further fill up its own PCS+ series Powercolor has announced yet another Cayman based card, the HD 6970 PCS+. Featuring a dual slot, dual fan cooler, the new HD 6970 will also come with a factory overclock, just as you would expect from a card in the PCS+ series.
The new HD 6970 PCS+ is based on, now quite well known, 40nm Cayman GPU with 1536 Stream Processors and works at 940MHz for the GPU and comes with 2GB of GDDR5 memory clocked at 5700MHz and paired up with a 256-bit memory interface. The non-reference cooler on the HD 6970 PCS+ comes with three 8mm copper heatpipes, two 92mm fans and takes up two slots. According to Powercolor, this cooler should keep the card up to 20 percent cooler than the reference one.
The backplate features two DVI, an HDMI and two mini DisplayPort outputs for some Eyefinity fun and the card will be available in two versions, with or without the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 bundle. Unfortunately, the price or the availability date haven't been announced.

Supply shortage seems to be more than a shortage
Several sources that we have spoken with have indicated that the supply of the MacBook Pro is a bit tight, with both the 15-inch and 17-inch units difficult to get at the moment. In the past when this has happened with Apple products it oftentimes indicates that a new version of the product is just around the corner.
Non–Apple store retailers that we spoke with have indicated that they have not been able to get a steady stream of the MacBook Pro unit since Christmas, and even around the holidays things were perhaps a bit tight. With Amazon quoting up to a two-month wait to ship your MacBook Pro, it puzzles us how Apple is still saying orders from their online store will ship within 24 hours of placing the order.
At any rate, with the recent announcements from Intel we do suspect that Apple might be trying to move through inventory while it gets ready to launch new models. Right now, we canÂ’t say when this will happen; but as we shake the treeÂ… watch for it.

Will help chart future course
Ed Fries of Microsoft Xbox fame will be joining the Razer Board of Advisors to help chart the future course of the company.
Fries, who has over 28 years in the video game industry, will use his experience to also offer input on future products. Fries believes that Razer is creating the most advanced gaming technologies in the industry right now and he is looking forward to working with the team at Razer to provide guidance and to develop new growth opportunities.
The addition of Fries appears to be a solid move by Razer. The company continues to grow and have an impact in the gaming market space. Razer will be moving into the console space with their first console offering, which is a controller for the Xbox 360. This will expand the companyÂ’s offerings beyond just PC products.

Very competitive pricing
In mid-2010 AMD managed to secure several major design wins for its mobile quad-core Phenoms and it appears that vendors are rather keen to embrace these affordable chips.
AMD has managed to carve out a small portion of the entry level market and looking at the prices it is easy to see why. The cheapest AMD-powered quad core notebooks sell for as little as €549 in major European markets, courtesy of Lenovo. However, Lenovo’s Z565 can hardly be described as an entry level notebook. This 15.6-incher packs a 2GHz Phenom N930, HD 5470 graphics, 4GB of memory and 500GB of storage.
Acer’s Aspire 5553 sells for just over €550 and it’s similarly spec’d, although it doesn’t have discrete graphics. HP and Asus are offering similar rigs in the €600 to €650 price range and several smaller vendors also carry AMD’s mobile quads.
Mind you, the cheapest Intel based quad-core notebook sells for €750. Granted, some users prefer Intel in the mobile market for a variety of reasons, but we beg to differ. The price difference is simply a bit too high. AMD quad-core lappies often cost as much as mid range models based on Intel dual-core parts, so they’re nothing short of a bargain for anyone who needs a lot of portable muscle.
In terms of design wins, Intel is still in a pretty big lead and notebooks based on Core i7 quad parts outnumber AMD designs by about eight to one. However, itÂ’s worth noting that AMD also offers tri core processors and nearly all vendors who carry their quads have triple-core SKUs as well.

Apple sued over cracked iPhone 4 :: Posted by THRASHER2
Defective product
A Californian bloke is suing Apple because his expensive iPhone 4 shattered when his daughter dropped it. Donald LeBuhn is leveling a class action lawsuit at Apple charging the company with knowingly selling a defective product.
After months of flogging the iPhone 4s, Apple has failed to warn and continues to sell this product with no warning to customers that the glass housing is defective,” LeBuhn says in the complaint. To be fair it did mention that it needed a rubber band to work and it has confessed that there was a disconnection feature when you moved the gizmo near your ears. However LeBuhn is right and Apple has not fessed up to cracking glass problems.
LeBuhn tested an iPhone 3G and dropped it from about 3 feet without the device suffering any harm however the iPhone 4 glass shattered. In October, a study by warranty provider SquareTrade revealed that iPhone 4 owners were reporting damage 68 percent more frequently than iPhone 3GS owners did four months after both devices had been on the market for four months.
Broken screens is the most frequently reported damage for the iPhone 4, according to the study. LeBuhn’s lawsuit says that that Apple makes false claims about the iPhone 4. Apple’s website says the iPhone 4?s screen is “chemically strengthened to be 20 times stiffer and 30 times harder than plastic” and “ultradurable”.

With huge triple fan cooler
Point of View and its TGT GPU tuning team from Germany finally announced their GTX 560 Ti cards. The new three models will be a part of well known Charged, Ultra Charged and Beast series and will feature a non-reference Arctic Cooling triple-slot, triple fan cooler.
As you could have guessed, all three cards are based on Nvidia's GF114 GPU, feature 384 CUDA Cores and 1GB of GDDR5 memory paired up with a 256-bit memory interface. The Charged Edition ended up clocked at 860MHz for the GPU, 1721MHz for Shaders and 4008MHz for memory, the Ultra Charged at 911MHz for the GPU, 1822MHz for the Shaders and 4224MHz for memory. The top-notch Beast Edition works at 954MHz for the GPU, 1909MHz for Shaders and 4224MHz for memory.
The Arctic Cooling triple-slot, triple-fan cooler will certainly be enough for the GF114 GPU since it can dissipate up to 250W. It features five copper heatpipes connected to the 84 aluminum fins heatsink which is cooled by three 92mm PWM fans.
All three cards are currently listed and can be found here for as low as €269, €283 and €309.

Chalk up one for Blizzard to stop gold farming
World of Warcraft developer Blizzard has apparently reached an agreement with PayPal to put on notice those using PayPal to sell virtual currency for non-virtual currency. Those who continue this practice risk having their accounts irreversibly suspended.
At the center of this seems to be an acceptance by PayPal that these sales violate BlizzardÂ’s intellectual property rights; but some legal experts that we spoke with over the weekend claim that this is nebulous at best and has never really been challenged in court in such a way to assure the eventual outcome.
The move does strike at the heart of the “gold farming” enterprises that have been going on for some time. The results could change things for the better in World of Warcraft, and it seems that players that we spoke with suggest that it is a good move by Blizzard to attempt to curb as much “gold farming” as possible. We will have to see how much success this move will have and only time will tell.
