Stunning HDR Images
The HDR images on this page are simply stunning. It's amazing the way a photograph of a real world location can look just like something you'd find in a CG movie or video game. Some of the images are even called "Tron," "Tolkien Bridge" and "I found Avatar." Here are a few of my favorites from the site: Comments

Electronics Recycling Now Required in 24 States
A bunch of states have new recycling laws (that went in to effect January 1st) prohibiting you from throwing out your old PC. So, instead of chucking that old PIII system collecting dust in the garage, take it to your local recycling center or donate it. It takes effect in two stages: A long list of electronic devices was banned from landfills as of Jan. 1, and a much shorter list will be covered by a recycling program free to consumers and paid for by manufacturers to be set up by July 1. Most states ask electronics makers to pay for recycling programs — both to make sure they are run properly and to remove the temptation for consumers to avoid added costs by dumping illegally. Intel Sandy Bridge 2600K & 2500K Processors Review
For those of you that haven't seen it yet, our evaluation of Intel's Sandy Bridge 2600K & 2500K processors has been posted. If you are an overclocker, you are seriously in for a treat. If you are an enthusiast, you are in for a treat. If you are an...hell with it, you get the point, you are in for a treat. The "Sandy Bridge" processors we are seeing here today are Intel's second generation of "Core" processor that will be represented under the brand names of Intel Core i3, Core i5, and Core i7. Sandy Bridge however represents mostly Intel's mainstream line of processors with the Sandy Bridge Core i7 moving somewhat into Intel's Performance processor lineup. The current LGA 1366/X58 platform will remain at the top of the stack throughout 2011. Comments

Firefox Leaps Ahead of IE in Europe
Even though Firefox has been steadily losing ground in the U.S., it is still number one in Europe...thanks to Chrome stealing IE's market share. Firefox didn't experience tremendous growth, however; it merely stood its ground while Google Chrome took the market share away from IE. "This appears to be happening because Google's Chrome is stealing share from Internet Explorer while Firefox is mainly maintaining its existing share," says StatCounter CEO Aodhan Cullen. Comments

Microsoft, Google Clash Over IE 0-Day Leaked to Chinese Hackers
Google and Microsoft are at odds over an unpatched Internet Explorer vulnerability and Chinese hackers are taking full advantage of the situation. Note that Zalewski has not completely disclosed the IE vulnerabilities (although he did release a stack trace). Everyone, and certainly Microsoft, has to assume they are in the wrong hands by now, especially as Zalewski's experience indicates that the Chinese researchers had found it themselves and were searching for further information. Wikipedia Meets $16M Budget Goal...The Hard Way
Network World says that Wikipedia has become far too big and far too important to rely on what they call "enormous annual bake sales." The good news, according to Wales, is that the donations will enable Wikipedia to remain free of advertising. The bad news, in my opinion, is that the donations will enable Wikipedia to remain free of advertising, despite the fact that the online encyclopedia has become far too big and far too important to be funded by what amounts to an enormous annual bake sale.
