Leaked AMD Radeon 6970 results?
Could it be?

Leaked AMD Radeon 6970 results have surfaced, in a nut shell it seems the 6970 (as it stands now in early days yet, without proper drivers and a proper release) that it will be at least 10% faster than the NVIDIA GeForce GTX480.

What's being said, is the HD 6970 is scoring X12000 in 3D Mark Vantage, with a P score of P24499.

Unigine Heaven results (1920 x 1200, 4xAA, 16xAF) giving a result of 36.6 fps.

Comparatively

- a HD5870 scores P19337 in 3D Mark Vantage, and 17.3 fps in Heaven
- a GTX480 scores P21106 in 3D Mark Vantage, and 29.5 fps in Heaven

Core speeds seem to be at around 800 - 900MHz, 6 + 8pin power requirements and an estimated TDP of 255W or more.

COD: Black Ops nearly leaked from Xbox 360 - investigators hunt person down
I thought piracy was only big on the PC? Oh how people are wrong...

Well, the highly anticipated upcoming Treyarch title, Call of Duty: Black Ops was nearly leaked onto the internet last week which caused a ruckus in the community. It has been donned "Blackgate" by one man who found himself in the middle of this mess - there is a handy YouTube video showing what has happened:

A man who calls himself "Computer Healer" had gotten news that a legit copy of Call of Duty: Black Ops was somewhere near his house in New Orleans - after reviewing the information on the disc at an Xbox 360 piracy related website, "Computer Healer" found out what he'd need to do in order to get his hands on a copy.

The person who had the copy, wanted donations before he'd release it - so "Computer Healer" decided he'd pay any price to get it before anyone else, after settling on a price he made a two-hour trip to pick it up. This is where it gets interesting.

According to "Computer Healer" (I'm saying it like that, just because it's a hilarious name) picked up the copy from a person who goes by the username/handle of "Ungodly", he then "took care of business" (obviously paid for the copy) and drove home. As you'd do with a hotly anticipated game that virtually no one else in the world has played - you'd put your jammies on and go to sleep, right?

Well, "Computer Healer" did just that - he put his phone on charge and went to sleep.

Upon waking, he instantly noticed several people were looking for him, including not only representatives from Treyarch, but an investigation agency hired by Activision called IP Cybercrime - he was also being followed by a tinted out vehicle.

After which - "Computer Hacker" handed the copy back to a Treyarch courier after only getting little time to play it.

It turns out the Xbox "scene" was awaiting him to leak it - but he said he was not going to do such a thing and only give it to a few friends who would "not leak it". "Ungodly" and a few other people are being investigated by the FBI.

Notion Ink's Adam tablet touted to last 15+ hours on single charge
Notion Ink's close-to-being-vapourware Adam tablet is again being bragged about - but if it turns out to be a great product, then it's good marketing.

Notion Ink's founder, Rohan Shravan has made a large claim - that the Adam tablet will give users a minimum, yes a minimum of 15 hours battery life, extending to up to 20 hours if the user replaces the battery with a 24 Wh battery.

Given that the Notion Ink Adam tablet consists of a beautiful Pixel Qi display and Tegra 2 chipset - it could be a huge rival to the iPad which is just gobbling up the entire tablet market.

Windows 8 in less than two years?
It felt like only yesterday that Windows Vista was released, it only felt like a few hours ago that Windows 7 was let out of the bag - but now we're hearing the early rumbles of Windows 8 and rumor has it, it's less than 2 years away.

We all know they're working on it - it is no surprise, but there something great about knowing it's on it's way. Microsoft said in a blog post on it's Dutch web site that Windows 8 is about two years from being on the market.

The comments were made on Sunday and were made at the end of a post celebrating Windows 7 first birthday. Microsoft is hesitant to comment on this sudden news of Windows 8 but their Server team did say last year that a major release of Windows Server was due in 2012 - and server versions usually lag a desktop release.

A leaked presentation which popped up in June suggests that the next release of Windows will include (and not just limited to), an app store similar to what we see on mobile's and Apple's new "Mac Store", improved start up times and the time it takes to resume from sleep mode, improved power efficiency and also work more closely with computer makers to better differentiate between their respective computers.

One interesting note I'll leave you with, is that Steve Ballmer has said that Windows 8 is Microsoft's "riskiest bet".

Are big changes on the way for Microsoft? Will they do figure 8's in Apple's face?

We'll have to wait and see, hopefully the world doesn't end first being that it will be released in 2012 - or is Windows 8 their riskiest bet as that is in fact, what causes the end of the world? Maybe Nostradamus torrented Windows 8 with a time machine?
