NVIDIA slashes 50% off Quadro products
NVIDIA, following their just recently (as in 24 hours ago) big price drop on GTX460 and 470 GPU's because of the AMD Radeon 6k series launch have shocked everyone again by dropping Quadro card prices by 50%.

CEO of NVIDIA, Jen Hsun Huang had a few things to say, “We have delivered excellent results in Quadro professional graphics”. “We expect to drive revenue and grow market share with new products that are gaining momentum in each of our businesses”.

But, any company will say that - can't remember the last time I heard "we expect revenue to drop heavily and our share price to plummet, because we are losing market share". Enter tongue face, :P

In Huang's own words, he says NVIDIA have fallen "significantly short of expectations".

LTE-friendly SIM cards may be on their way to AT&T devices
Although thereÂ’s still no official word as to when AT&T will start officially supporting LTE, their choice of flavor for 4G, it looks like theyÂ’re getting their devices ready for the jump. According to a leaked slide, new LTE-friendly SIM cards are already on the way.

The new cards look to be recognizable by an SKU ending in 53 instead of 47, but probably not much past that. The iPhone 4 has been left out for now due to requiring a micro SIM card to work, unlike most other devices. Sometimes itÂ’s not so great being different, is it Apple? Anyways, AT&T fans that are still waiting on an official rollout announcement still have to wait, but itÂ’s nice to see some baby steps being taken to get to LTE.

HP Slate 500 to be aimed at the business sector
It’s seems that HP’s long rumored Slate tablet has risen from the ashes of being left for dead and is going to hit the market, but not how everyone originally thought. HP has officially announced the Slate 500 will be squarely pointed away from the consumer market, instead being sold “through HP's small-business, enterprise and government-sales Web storefronts.”

Aimed at markets which Tablet PCs have currently been aimed at like hospitals, boardrooms, and restaurants, this Windows 7 based tablet originally saw the light of day at CES, but after the Palm acquisition the Slate seemed to be dead in the water. Specs are suitably high end: an 8.9-inch screen, 1,024-by-768 display powered by a 1.86GHz Intel Atom processor, 2GB of RAM, 64GB of flash storage, Wi-Fi connectivity, an SD card slot, dual cameras (VGA in front, 3 megapixels in back) and a USB port. The price is just as high end, expected to be $799. Check out the promo video after the break.

Android's Gingerbread update may be 2.3 instead of 3.0
For those of you who get hyped up about numbering systems, an Android engineer may have given you a little freak out today. While posting in the Android code forum, the engineer made reference to the next major Android build being version 2.3, not 3.0 like everyone has believed.

ItÂ’s not like the jump from 2.2 to 2.3 canÂ’t be as large as the jump to 3.0, itÂ’s just an unwritten rule that generally the farther apart the version numbers are, the bigger and more groundbreaking the update will be. Whether Gingerbread will be version 2.3, 3.0, or 5,785.243 really doesnÂ’t matter as long as it continues moving the platform in the right direction.

Angelbird SSD storage device can be expanded for more speed as needed
The pros and cons of an SSD versus a HDD are well documented. No one will argue that the SSD offers more speed than your average HDD, but most will agree that the amount you pay for an SSD versus the storage space leaves a lot to be desired. However, users that want outright speed in their computers know that the SSD is the way to go.

SSDs that connect directly to the SATA port have bottlenecks inherent in the SATA design and to avoid those bottlenecks there are a few SSDs on the market today that plug into the PCI Express slot. A new SSD storage device has surfaced from a company called Angelbird that is a combination of a traditional SSD and one of the PCI Express SSDs.

The Angelbird device has no storage integrated into the PCI E card itself, but it is purchased with a wired SSD in 16GB or 32GB that is used for booting the computer. With a single SSD hooked to the PCI E card the device is capable of up to 285MB/s performance. The real coolness comes when you add more of the expansion modules the company offers. You can go up to four of those expansion modules and with a quartet of 120GB modules the device is capable of up to 1081MB/s data speeds. The system starts at $239.

Arctic Cooling Announces Arctic Freezer 13 CPU Cooler
Arctic Cooling Announces Arctic Freezer 13 CPU Cooler
ARCTIC is pleased to announce their new CPU cooler today – Freezer 13 – that carries on the legacy of the renowned Freezer 7 Pro Rev.2 to continue providing efficient and low noise CPU cooling solution for enthusiasts. The maximum cooling capacity of this newly improved cooler is 200W. In combination of wide compatibility with AMD and Intel sockets and superior cooling performance, the Freezer 13 ultimately brings overclocking to a new level.

Featuring four U-shaped high performance heatpipes and 45 efficiently formed aluminum fins; the Freezer 13 is able to dissipate massive heat that is produced in high-end CPUs, such as Intel Core i7. To facilitate the process of removing waste heat, the Freezer 13 is equipped with an ultra-quiet 92mm PWM fan. The fan speed runs from 600 to 2000 RPM to keep components within their safe operating temperature limit.

User-Friendly Mounting Mechanism

Installing Freezer 13 cannot be any easier. With ARCTIC’s own design of push pins, mounting the cooler on to the system is quick and simple. The mounting system is very convenient as it fits on all current platforms – it is unnecessary to take apart the main board. Its sturdy mounting frame is able to withstand the weight of the Freezer 13, even under worst conditions, such as a drop test. A layer of ARCTIC MX-4, the latest thermal compound by ARCTIC, has been pre-applied to facilitate the process of installation as well.

Great Bargain

With its competitive pricing, the performance of the Freezer 13 outperforms other coolers in the market. The price and reliable performance ratio is a great bargain for gamers, overclockers and even ordinary enthusiasts.

The Freezer 13 comes with a 6 year limited warranty. It is available in late October. The MSRP is US$35.90/ 27.60€, excl.VAT.
