Roku relaunches HD streaming video player line
Roku has introduced three new models of its set-top streaming video player, designed to provide on-demand content with minimal setup. The first model, an update of their original video player line, is the $59 Roku HD. Streaming video at up to 720p, and with connections that allow compatibility with older sets, the 1x5 inch box gives access to Roku's streaming services like Netflix, Pandora, and Vimeo over Ethernet or wireless connections. While some of these services require an outside subscription there are no additional costs for using them with the box, and Roku states that its current library of around 85 channels is still expanding.

Mark Zuckerberg is now richer than Steve Jobs
Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg now has a higher net worth than Apple CEO Steve Jobs, as first noted by Forbes. This year, Zuckerberg is estimated to be worth $6.9 billion, mainly thanks to the soaring valuation of Facebook -- anywhere between $23 billion and $34 billion -- which he founded just five years ago. Jobs, meanwhile, has a net worth of $6.1 billion, most of which is actually tied up in Disney. Apple was founded before Zuckerberg was born.

Marvell developing triple-core mobile CPU, Armada 628
Update: The launch of the Marvell Armada 628 has been confirmed by the manufacturer. This ultra-low power processor will indeed carry three ARM-compliant CPU cores running at a handsome 1.5GHz (two of them + one lower consumption core), an on-chip graphics processing engine, 1080p video encoding, hi-fi audio, and even USB 3.0 support. With such impressive capabilities at hand, we must wonder what the ideal consumer device for this SoC (System-on-a-Chip) will look like when it arrives next year.

GOG apologizes for marketing ploy, relaunching tomorrow
Rest easy folks, Good Old Games isn't going anywhere. On Sunday, the digital distributor scared gamers by taking down its service and leaving a (purposefully) misleading note about its closure. "GOG.com simply cannot remain in its current form," the site said. The respected game dealer's demise upset loyal customers and many criticized it for its abrupt end. Some speculated the service was purchased by a larger distributor (such as Steam), while others thought it was marketing ploy. The latter group was right, it seems.

Michael Jackson PC game announced: Planet Michael
SEE Virtual Worlds has announced a massive online Michael Jackson-themed video game for the PC. Did you just do a double take? Yeah, we didn't believe it the first few times either. Planet Michael (no, once again this is not a really late April Fools' joke) is set to launch next year and will be free to play, though it will include microtransaction features, some of which will go to charities. Not only is there a website, but there are also Twitter, Facebook and MySpace accounts, so it's pretty darn official!

Netflix comes to Canada for $7.99 per month, no mail service
Netflix has announced its expansion into Canada (English only for now, French is on its way), the first country to get the service outside of the United States. Netflix.ca is now live, offering unlimited streaming for $7.99 CAD per month. The price is so low because it only includes online streaming, meaning you cannot get DVD or Blu-Ray discs in the mail.

Lawmakers seek to seize domains in anti-piracy war
The Obama administration released its plans last June to take a tougher stance against Internet piracy, and Monday US lawmakers released their contribution: legislation that could allow the Department of Justice to seize the domain names of websites that promote copyright infringement. Introduced by Senator Patrick Leahy and dubbed the "Combating Online Infringement and Counterfeits Act," the bill once again raises the issues of intellectual property rights versus Internet usage control and censorship. Proponents include the MPAA, RIAA, and the Screen Actors Guild, which stated, "This legislation will make it easier to shut down 'rogue' websites, which are dedicated to stealing the films, television programs and music created by our members."
