It's an eventful week for USB 3.0 with several companies launching products that utilize the new interface. Kingston has begun shipping its first USB 3.0 flash drives, the DataTraveler Ultimate 3.0 series. The new line boasts peak read and write rates of 80MB/s and 60MB/s over USB 3.0, or about 30MB/s and 30MB/s over USB 2.0.

Dell offers fresh perspective on convertible netbook/tablet
Dell has unveiled a new 10-inch convertible netbook with an unusual swivel mechanism. Rather than mounting the entire display with a horizontally rotating hinge, the screen flips vertically inside the bezel. Once the panel is facing the opposite direction, the netbook can be closed, and presto, you have a tablet with a hardware keyboard stashed under the hood for those more productive moments. "There are times that you have to do work. Tablets are great for entertainment, but they aren't exactly conducive to productivity," said Dell.

Parallels Desktop 6 brings Windows to iPod, iPhone, iPad
Parallels showed off its Parallels Mobile app for the iPod touch, iPhone, and iPad at the DEMO Fall 2010 conference. The app lets users remotely access their Windows applications on their Apple mobile device(s) from anywhere, any time, and on any network. It works by letting you use Wi-Fi or 3G to access any virtual machine running on your Mac with Parallels Desktop 6.

Adobe warns of critical vulnerability in Flash and PDF readers
Adobe issued a new security advisory yesterday, warning of a critical vulnerability (CVE-2010-2884) in several of its products, including Flash Player 10.1.82.76 and earlier versions for Windows, Mac, Linux, and Solaris, as well as Flash 10.1.92.10 for Android. The bug also affects Adobe Reader 9.3.4 for Windows, Mac, and Unix, along with Adobe Acrobat 9.3.4 and earlier on Windows and Mac.

Rumor: Google TV launching week of October 17
Google TV may be launching sometime around October 17, according to an internal Best Buy document leaked by Engadget. The release date was actually set for October 3, 2010 but was reportedly pushed back two weeks due to unknown circumstances, and while that doesn't give us complete confirmation, it's pretty close if you remember that Best Buy is an official Google TV partner. The retailer is expected to sell the Logitech Revue, as well as TVs and BluRay players that are powered by Google TV.

HDCP master key leak could help kill DRM
The HDCP master key, which permanently unlocks the DRM protocol on Blu-ray players, set-top boxes, and displays with HDMI inputs, was supposedly leaked by Twitter user IntelGlobalPR (via Engadget). If the key is indeed legitimate, there could be major consequences for the film industry since HDCP is built into the HDMI spec.
