Zalman Releases ZM-SF3 Shark Fins Case Fans
Zalman has just released its newest case fan, the ZM-SF3 Shark Fins. The fan is of the 120mm variety and is designed for quiet computing solutions. It has silicone pins and pads to better isolate the sound eminating from it while the fan generates between 18 and 23 dBa. The ZM-SF3 spins between 900 and 1500 RPM but no mention was made of the CFM generated. The unique aspect of the fan is the design of the blades. Each blade has one large "shark fin" on the end with four smaller ones along the edge of the blade. This should, in theory, help to generate higher CFM while maintaining quiet operation. The "shark fins" combine with Ever Lasting Quiet (ELQ) bearings to make sure everything stays quiet and gives a MTBF of 150,000 hours.
The Zalman ZM-SF3 fan should be available now for $16.99.

Bing Passes Yahoo for Number Two Search Engine
I am sure this isn't much of a surprise to some of you but Microsoft's Bing search engine has just passed Yahoo for number two on the list in the U.S. Number one is of course Google but now at least Microsoft is firmly in the number two spot. Bing went from 13.6% in July to 13.9% in August while Yahoo dropped from 14.3% to 13.1% in the same time frame. Google actually increased from 64.2% to 65% during that time. The combined share of Bing and Yahoo is 27% which is less than half of Google's. Now, this news is all well and good but if you remember the bit of information about how Yahoo search results are being powered by Bing, the news is slightly less important for Microsoft. However, Bing has slowly been increasing in use over the last six months while Google has gone up and done by percentage points each month. I don't think Bing will suddenly overtake Google anytime soon but at least it is growing in popularity.
