Engadget has it on good authority that Sony Ericsson is preparing an Android 3.0-based gaming smartphone described as a mix between the Samsung Captivate and the PSP Go. A "trusted source" tells the site that the company is toiling away on a landscape slider with game controls instead of a hardware keyboard.

R.U.S.E. drops Ubisoft's DRM for Steam
Ubisoft's always-connected DRM is, to say the least, greatly unpopular in the gaming community, and it seems that disdain has made an impression. The publisher has decided to exclude its DRM from the upcoming real time strategy game R.U.S.E., favoring Steam instead. Although it's been known for a while that R.U.S.E. would use Steam in some capacity, it wasn't clear whether the title would ship with Ubisoft's own DRM.

Fastest quad-core, new six-core AMD chips in September
AMD is getting ready to add a new member to its six-core chips family as well as a new flagship quad-core and a couple more budget processors, according to a report on X-bit labs. The Phenom II X6 1075T should bridge the gap between the current 1055T and 1090T six-core parts, with a $230-240 price tag and 3GHz base clock speed. The chip will be able to go as high as 3.5GHz when AMD's Turbo Core technology kicks in, but otherwise specs should look familiar to those of its predecessors, with support for DDR3-1333 memory and a total 9MB of cache.

Gateway SX 2311-03 Small Form Factor PC Review
Unlike typical technology upstarts, Gateway has had a storied journey that began on an Iowa cattle ranch in 1985. Its two founders, Ted Waitt and Mike Hammond, built the company from the ground up with a $10,000 loan from Waitt's grandmother and enjoyed quite a successful run up until the dot-com bubble burst in the early 2000s.
