Fujifilm produces first first compact 3D-capable HD camera
Fujifilm W3 is the fist compact camera to shoot 3D movies at 720p through a new imaging chip that can handle the workload. Also new is a 3D-capable mini HDMI 1.4 output that can show the results as they were originally shot on a supporting 3D TV. The camera as an update to the W1 revolves around a similar set of dual 10-megapixel, 3X zoom lenses set far enough apart to mimic the stereoscopy of human eyes. A 3.5-inch touchscreen on the back is both the main interface and has glasses-free 3D to give an impression of the final image.

Facebook third most popular video site
According to the latest info from comScore, Facebook has become the third most popular video destination on the Internet, following Google and Yahoo. YouTube which is owned by Google remained the clear market leader, with 144 million unique viewers for the month of July. Yahoo followed in second with 55.1 million unique viewers. Facebook moved up to third, at 46.58 million, followed closely by Microsoft sites (such as MSNBC) at 45.56 million. Rounding out the top 5 is VEVO, with 43.9 million unique viewers for the month.

WiMAX 2 to reach 100Mbps in real conditions by 2012
The WiMAX Forum's marketing lead Declan Byrne said this weekend that Intel's upcoming WiMAX 2 standard should be much faster than the existing standard in practice. Existing WiMAX often tops at just 3-6Mbps according to estimates from Clear and Sprint, but the new 802.16m version should provide average speeds over 100Mbps, Byrne told Computerworld. Range would be the same as it would use the same frequencies, such as the 2.5GHz band in the US. The standard should be ratified in November and could be in commercial use as soon as 2012. Clear and Sprint are the most likely to use it as they share one of the largest WiMAX networks on the planet.

ASUS delivers less Eee PCs because of iPad
Despite summer being the usual peak for Eee PC sales, ASUS' CEO Jerry Shen dropped his company's netbook shipment estimates in the season to 1.4 million PCs, reportedly due to Apple's iPad tablet. ASUS now expects to ship between seven and eight million Eee PCs through all of 2010. Shen remained committed to the Eee PC line but also reassured investors that ASUS would compete with Apple in the tablet space through the Eee Pad line, which will now have Android as well as Windows 7 and Windows Embedded Compact 7 variants. The first of these won't start shipping until December at the earliest, however, and will give Apple a roughly eight month lead.

Slim Xbox 360 console already hacked
Hacking group Team Xecuter, in conjunction with Team Jungle and C4E has said yesterday that the new slimmed down Xbox 360 250GB model has been hacked, allowing users to playback burned DVDs. Poster Xecuter says the team has successfully patched the DVD-Rom drive, which enabled playing downloaded or backup copies of games.
