Yahoo shutting down small publisher ad network
Exclamation sign-enhanced company !Yahoo! has bowed down to the might of Google AdSense and announced that the Yahoo Publisher Network will close up shop on April 30th. Launched in 2005 to take on AsSense, the still beta program supplied small web publishers with contextual, pay-per-click text ads.
According to a statement issued by Yahoo, after an "extensive review of the Yahoo! Publisher Network beta program", the company concluded that the resources needed to bring YPN to the levels desired by customers would be better utilized in "other areas of Yahoo!'s business." It's basically a 'location, location, location' decision in line with Yahoo's previous moves like the shut down of GeoCities and the sale of Zimbra and HotJobs.
Those using the Yahoo! Publisher Network are advised by Yahoo to make the switch to Chitika, another Y!-branded ad program.

Twitter homepage getting a makeover
Few words phenomenon Twitter is putting on a new face thanks to its redesigned homepage which puts the emphasis on search and easy access to hot topics discussed by users from all around the world. Aimed at making Twitter more accessible to newcomers, the fresh homepage features a scroll with popular topics, extra info being provided by simply hovering the cursor over the keyword, a 'Top Tweets' section with updates from high profile users, and a tab with members who you may want to follow.
"All of our recent changes embrace the notion that Twitter is not just for status updates anymore," explained Doug Bowman, Creative Director at Twitter. "It's a network where information is exchanged and consumed at a rapid clip every second of the day. With so much being shared, we know that there's something of value for everyone. People who internalize the value of Twitter understand the power of this simple medium. But it hasn't been easy to make that value transparent or obvious for curious folks coming to Twitter for the first time."
The new homepage went live this week but currently the old one is back so the Twitter team is likely putting in some finishing touches before launching it globally.

Fujitsu LifeBook T730 convertible tablet cvasi-exposed by the FCC
Through a new listing, the FCC (Federal Communications Commission) has pretty much confirmed the existence, or better yet, the upcoming existence of the LifeBook T730, a new convertible tablet from Fujitsu. We could speculate that, given its number, the T730 will be smaller than the 13.3-inch T900 model, and boast a 11.6-inch display but that's speculation.
Expect more details about the LifeBook T730 in the more or less near future.
