Palm offers webOS PDK public beta, calls out to more game devs
Palm is now supplying all developers with a public beta version of the webOS Plug-in Development Kit (PDK) which has been used in the making of over 20 webOS games. The PDK, which complements the previously-released SDK, lets developers extend their webOS applications by writing plug-ins in C or C++ and enables sexy new capabilities like high-performance (high-performance in a mobile context) 3D graphics.
"Palm webOS is the go-to platform for great games on two of the three leading carrier networks," said Katie Mitic, senior vice president, Product Marketing, Palm. "We have both the developer tools and the hardware necessary for a world-class gaming experience, and an impressive portfolio of webOS game titles from top-notch developers to show for it."
Those interested in addition to webOS' gaming catalog are advised to check out developer.palm.com.

Intel rumored to be planning dual-core Atom for netbooks
Have some salt and sit down to hear the latest from the Rumorville Gazzette, a claim that Intel is working on a Pineview family Atom processor for netbooks that features two cores. Intel is currently offering the D510 1.66 GHz dual-core chip but that targets nettops so the company could be releasing something similar for mobile use.
The previous-generation Atom lacked a dual-core model for netbooks too but some manufacturers used the Atom 330 in mobile PCs (especially ION-based netbooks) to provide a more processing power. At least in theory PC makers could do that now too but if Intel comes around and releases a dual-core for netbooks, adoption of such a solution would be higher. Sure, you'll sacrifice some battery life but Pine Trail-based netbooks already deliver great in that department. Fingers crossed everyone and who knows, we may get a nice ION 2/dual-core 11.6-inch netbook this summer. Dare to dream.
