Logitech unveils the Wireless Desktop MK710 kit
Logitech has today announced its latest keyboard-mouse combo which goes by the name of Wireless Desktop MK710, and claims it is the first solution with both peripherals having a battery life of up to three years. The keyboard included in the new kit features a low profile and a cushioned palm rest, Incurve keys with a concave design, and an LCD dashboard that provides status updates for Caps Lock, Scroll Lock, Num Lock and battery life.
The laser mouse supplied by Logitech has a right-handed design, comes with both hyper-fast and click-to-click scrolling, and makes use of 2.4 GHz wireless technology to connect to the compact Unifying receiver bundled. Both the keyboard and mouse transmit 128-bit AES-encrypted data to the receiver.
"No one thinks about changing batteries until they have to, but when that time comes, it can stop you in your tracks," said Rory Dooley, Logitech's senior vice president and general manager of the Control Devices business unit. "With its industry-first three-year battery life for a combo, you might just forget the Logitech Wireless Desktop MK710 uses batteries at all."
The Wireless Desktop MK710 will debut in Europe this month and reach the US in April with a price tag of $100.

Opera Mini for the iPhone to be previewed next week
Next week at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Opera Software is planning to show off an iPhone version of Opera Mini aka the world's most popular mobile web browser. Set to be revealed in an exclusive press and partner preview event, Opera Mini for the iPhone is claimed to deliver an easy and fast browsing experience but isn't what what 'they' all promise?
"We are thrilled to offer journalists and partners an exclusive preview of Opera Mini for iPhone during the year's biggest mobile event," said Jon von Tetzchner, Co-founder, Opera Software. "This is a unique opportunity to introduce the fast, feature-rich Opera Mini experience for the iPhone, and to showcase our latest beta releases of Opera Mobile and Opera Mini on other platforms and devices. Opera's mission is to bring the Web to the world, and by making Opera Mini available on yet another platform, we are one step closer."
Opera Mini is used on over 40 million phones worldwide but don't expect that number to jump due to adoption from iPhone owners. Apple doesn't like software that offers the same/similar functionality as its own products so we're guessing Opera Mini will not be approved and will not be coming to the App Store. Still, Opera is proving its browser's versatility and that's just fine. Blame Apple for everything stopping at 'proof of concept'.
