WHS Add-in Manageability concept application
Intel's very own Ylian Saint-Hilaire has released his proof of concept network management add-in software for the Windows Home Server platform. At the moment he has been a bit boring with the name - simply calling it the 'Manageability Add-in' - but he describes the details of the application on his website, which says the following:
This is an experimental open source add-in for Windows Home Server helps perform remote computer monitoring and management. With this add-in you can discover and monitor the power state of all of the computers on a network along with performing many management operations. You also get added benefits if the computers on the network support Intel AMT, but this is not required to use this add-in. This add-in is built on top of the peer-to-peer mesh networking project that is also on this web site. So people that like this add-in will also like other tools that are part of the mesh networking tools.
Note that this is an experimental add-in since the mesh agent is not currently secure. So please donأ¢آ€آ™t try this on a public network until all of the security features of the mesh agent are completed. This add-in does require Microsoft Windows Home Server.

Apple has to take on Fujitsu, others over iPad trademark
As much as it would like us to think so, Apple did not invent everything since the formation of this planet, and so, not even the iPad is 'that' special, at least not considering its name which, unsurprisingly, is taken, sort of. Fujitsu has been selling a mobile device called iPad since 2002 and has even filed for an iPad trademark seven years ago, although, to this date, no rights were granted since another company (not Apple) made a similar request.
Fujitsu's iPad doesn't have much in common with Apple's iPad as it is a device aimed to be used by store staff for inventory management, credit transactions, price verifications, phone calls, line busting, mobile POS, and gift registry. Despite the difference, the trademark claim is there and Apple has to either settle with Fujitsu or contest the company's request, the latter being possible until the end of February.
Even if it gets the US trademark, Apple will have other battles ahead as the iPad name is utilized in other countries for various products. The Cupertino company will likely have to shell out a lot of cash for the rights over the iPad brand but we hear it's doing well financially so this shouldn't be a major problem.
