Geil Black Dragon DDR3 Gaming Series PC# 12800 2x2GB Review @ OCC and other reviews from around the web can be found by visiting our forums!

"The one beef I have with this set is that the modules would not budge above the rated 1600MHz threshold on two P55 boards that are on the qualified motherboard list. I updated the BIOS on both boards to the latest publicly available BIOS and still no luck in overclocking the modules. I figured I had seen this before on another P55 board so I swapped the modules to my X58 based MSI Eclipse SLI board (also on the QML) and was able to run the Black Dragon modules all the way up to 1934MHz (967MHz), a significant improvement with the voltage kept at 1.65v and bumping the timings up to 9-9-9-28, a much better result."

Toshiba Launches 64GB High Density NAND Flash Memory Modules

Toshiba Corporation today announced the launch of a 64 gigabyte (GB) embedded NAND flash memory module, the highest capacity yet achieved in the industry. The chip is the flagship device in a new line-up of six embedded NAND flash memory modules that offer full compliance with the latest eMMCTM standard, and that are designed for application in a wide range of digital consumer products, including smartphones, mobile phones, netbooks and digital video cameras. Samples of the 64GB module are available from today, and mass production will start in the first quarter of 2010. Some other news sites have suggested this is a sign that a 64GB Apple iPhone is on the way, which could be very true.

Toshiba Launches 64GB High Density NAND Flash Memory Modules

The new 64GB embedded device combines sixteen 32Gbit (equal to 4GB) NAND chips fabricated with Toshiba's cutting-edge 32nm process technology, and also integrates a dedicated controller. Toshiba is the first company to succeed in combining sixteen 32Gbit NAND chips, and applied advanced chip thinning and layering technologies to realize individual chips that are only 30 micrometers thick. Full compliance with the JEDEC/MMCA Version 4.4(V4.4) standard for embedded MultiMediaCards supports standard interfacing and simplified embedding in products, reducing development burdens on product manufacturers.

Kaspersky Lab utilizes NVIDIA CUDA technology for a 360x performance boost!

There was an interesting news release that went out today from Kaspersky Lab in Russia, a leading developer of secure content management solutions. Theyve announced that theyre leveraging CUDA with NVIDIA Tesla GPUs to dramatically improve the performance of their security software solutions by 360 times when compared to a Core2 Duo.

Kaspersky Lab

Kaspersky Lab uses the Tesla S1070 1U GPU system to accelerate the intellectual services that define the similarity of files. The similarity services enable the identification of new files and define which file, or file groups, most closely resemble the unknown program received by the Companys antivirus lab. The use of Tesla S1070 by the similarity-defining services has significantly boosted the rate of identification of unknown files, thus making for a quicker response to new threats and providing users with even faster and more complete protection. During internal testing, the Tesla S1070 demonstrated a 360-fold increase in the speed of the similarity-defining algorithm when compared to the popular Intel Core 2 Duo central processor running at a clock speed of 2.6 GHz.

Asustek to Spin Off Motherboard & GPU's Under Pegatron Brand

It looks like Asustek is re-branding their motherboard and GPU lines to further delineate their component products from the their systems. It's too early to tell if there are other underlying reasons for the split.

Asus Logo Split

Asustek has informed the Taiwanese Stock Exchange that it will completely spin off its motherboard and graphics card subsidiary, Pegatron, in July 2010. The split is driven by the parent company's desire to continue its competition against the likes of HP and Dell under the ASUS brandname, while still collecting ODM and motherboard orders from those same companies for its manufacturing business.
