Mozilla Labs delivers new JetPack update
The Mozilla Labs team seems to be on afterburners as just four days after releasing JetPack 0.3, they have come up with the 0.4 version. JetPack is an API that enables people to enhance the Firefox browser by writing add-ons for it using web technologies like HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
JetPack 0.4 comes with two major additions - first there's the support for recording audio directly to Ogg-Vorbis. These audio encoding APIs allow developers to build Jetpacks that record high-quality audio directly from within the browser, which can then be played back using Firefox 3.5's new audio tag support. Second, we have the 'page mod' API, which enables devs to add features or functionality to any website being viewed in the browser.
Those interested can get JetPack 0.4 from this page.

Belkin kills the FlyWire
Belkin proudly introduced us the FlyWire wireless HD/HDMI system a year ago at CES 2008 and then at every AV-related trade show. But it looks like the global recession made Belkin rething the launch of the $1499 device.
أ¢آ€آœLast year, Belkin announced FlyWireأ¢آ„آ¢, a wireless HD transmitter that delivers high-definition video and audio wirelessly to any TV, anywhere in your home. We realize that its retail price of $1499 would be out of line given the current state of the economy. With that in mind, weأ¢آ€آ™ve opted to halt production of FlyWire. We will no longer be introducing FlyWire to the market at this time. We know there will be some disappointed folks out there, but our end goal is to introduce products that are accessible and that make sense in the current environment.أ¢آ€آ Belkin official statement.
The FlyWire promised to transmit 108op/24 Full HD video between multiple sources and an HDTV or projector, while still preserving HDCP for copyright-protected content.

Teletext departs from U.K TV screens
Teletext, the programme that gaveall national, international and sporting news, weather and TV schedules, in the U.K, and was available from ITV, Channel 4 and Five, goes of air from February 2009.
"As anticipated, the continued fragmentation of television audiences and the growth in the use of the internet has resulted in a significant reduction in the audience and volume of commercial activity generated by the television services," the firm said.
"In addition, Ofcom has indicated that it is not persuaded of the need for public intervention in the delivery of a public commercial Teletext service beyond 2014 and this has also contributed to the decision to discontinue the public service. "Current economic conditions have accelerated this process, leading to today's announcement."
A spokesman for DMGT said all Teletext's news and information services, both on analogue and digital, would cease in January 2010.
However, its holiday service on Freeview and other commercial services will continue to broadcast. In addition its profitable travel sites will continue to operate.
