MSI N275GTX Lightning Parts Pictured
MSI is building its GeForce GTX 200 Lightning series with its newest entry, the N275GTX, based on the GeForce GTX 275. With the new GPU being compatible with existing GeForce GTX 260 PCBs, it was expected of MSI to reuse the PCB and cooler the N260GTX Lightning featured. Instead, the company came up with a newer cooler, with a slightly different PCB. While retaining the Twin Frozr heatsink, MSI changed the shroud and added slightly larger fans.
The PCB makes use of an 8-phase power circuit, with more durable "solid-state chokes". Simply put, instead of traditional chokes having the toroidal coil and ferrite bar (core) enclosed in a slightly cubical casing, these chokes use an iron chunk with the toroidal coil embedded. The lack of a ferrite core in its traditional form, effectively reduces energy loss. The PCB also uses flat-bed Hi-C capacitors that add to the durability. The outputs on this card are DVI, D-Sub, and HDMI. It features 896 MB of GDDR3 memory. Additional details such as clock speeds, availability, and price, are not known at this point in time.

Scythe Readying Big Shuriken CPU Cooler
Japanese cooling specialist Scythe is readying a new variant of the Shuriken CPU cooler, this time of a slightly larger built, while respecting its design ideology that it should be slim form-factor friendly. The Big Shuriken differs from Shuriken in its dimensions, fan size, and number of heat-pipes. It measures 125 أ— 135 أ— 58 mm, and holds a slimmer 120 mm fan, in comparison to the Shuriken having a 100 mm fan, and a height of 64 mm, which is slightly higher.
The basic construction remains the same: from a CPU contact base that doubles up as a heatsink, originate four copper heat-pipes, that convey heat to a dense array of aluminum fins, which is directly under the air-flow of the fan. The PWM-controlled fan spins at speeds of 650~1600 rpm, pushing 15.77~38.05 CFM of air, with noise outputs ranging in 12.91~28.89 dBA. The cooler weighs in at 405 g (around 0.9 lbs), and is compatible with most existing desktop CPU sockets including LGA-1366/775, and AMD AM3/AM2+/AM2/939. There is no word on its global availability and price yet.

Kingston Shows Off HyperX Fan
With advances in DRAM technology, memory vendors are able to up module densities, while also providing high DRAM speeds and latencies as low as possible. For enthusiasts and overclockers, even a slightly cooler memory module could make the difference between high speed and record setting speed. Memory manufacturers went beyond heatspreaders, and started off with heatsinks mounted on top of each module. The trend was started by manufacturers such as Corsair and Patriot. The former was even the first to start the trend of active air-cooling for modules with heatsinks.
Following the likes of Corsair, G.Skill, OCZ, and A-Data, Kingston seems to be ready with its own active memory cooler that is designed to cool the recent designs of the company's modules that feature integrated heatsinks. The HyperX fan cooler consists of a blue shroud with the "X" motif cut on its sides. The top holds two blue LED-lit 60 mm fans, with a maximum acoustic output of 28 dBA. The cooler latches on to the motherboard's memory module retention knobs. Kingston is expected to launch this at the upcoming Computex event. It will be available either separately, or part of its high end T1 series HyperX kits. A teaser video can be watched here.

ASUS Designs Own Monster Dual-GTX 285 4 GB Graphics Card
ASUS has just designed a new monster graphics card that breaks the mold for reference design GeForce GTX 295, called the ASUS MARS 295 Limited Edition. The card, although retains the name "GeForce GTX 295", same device ID, and is compatible with existing NVIDIA drivers, has two huge innovations put in by ASUS, which go far beyond being yet another overclocked GeForce GTX 295: the company used two G200-350-B3 graphics processors, the same ones that make the GeForce GTX 285. The GPUs have all the 240 shader processors enabled, and also have the complete 512-bit GDDR3 memory interface enabled. This dual-PCB monstrosity holds 32 memory chips, and 4 GB of total memory (each GPU accesses 2 GB of it). Apart from these, each GPU system uses the same exact clock speeds as the GeForce GTX 285: 648/1476/2400 MHz (core/shader/memory).
