Dell intros the Vostro 1320, 1520 and 1720 laptops
Keeping things fresh, PC maker Dell has today added three new Vostro laptops to its line-up. Targeting small business clients, the 13.3-inch Vostro 1320, the 15.4-inch Vostro 1520, and 17-inch Vostro 1720 are powered by Core 2 Duo processors, and cam be equipped with up to 8GB of RAM, GMA X4500MHD integrated graphics or an Nvidia (GeForce 9300M GS for the 1320 and 1520, 9600M GS for the 1720) discrete graphics card, a 128GB SSD or a HDD with up to 250GB of storage space, and either a DVD writer or Blu-Ray drive.

The laptop come with a biometric fingerprint reader backed by the DigitalPersona software, WiFi, Ethernet, 4-, 6- or 9-cell batteries (only the last two options available for the Vostro 1720), an ExpressCard slot and a 8-in-1 memory card reader.

Now available in North America and select South American countries, the Vostro 1320, 1520, and 1720 have starting price tags of $569, $629 and $649 respectively.

MSI freezes up the GeForce GTX 275
Kicking things into high gear right from the get-go, MSI has launched two GeForce GTX 275 that have snubbed the reference design and went on to use the secsi Twin Frozr cooler which feature two fans, five heatpipes and a large aluminum heatsink. The N275GTX Twin Frozr and N275GTX Twin Frozr OC look pretty much the same and have red PCBs, a 448-bit memory interface with 896MB of GDDR3 memory, DirectX 10 and 3-way SLI support, dual-DVI connectivity and two 6-pin PCIe plugs.

The N275GTX Twin Frozr comes with stock GPU, shader and memory clocks - 633, 1404 and 2268 MHz respectively, while the OC version boasts GPU and memory frequencies of 666 and 2322 MHz. The first card to appear in stores is the N275GTX Twin Frozr and it is listed with price tags that go up from 250 Euro.

GeForce 185.65 beta hit the web
Apparently, one driver in one day isn't enough for Nvidia anymore as the Santa Clara company has introduced yet another driver, the 185.65. Currently in beta stage, the GeForce 185.65 comes with the 9.09.0203 PhysX software, support for the GeForce G92-equipped 8800, 9 and 200 series cards, and features:

- Added support for the new GeForce GTX 275 GPU.
- Added support for Ambient Occlusion (only for Windows Vista) - the newest Nvidia Control Panel feature to offer enhanced 3D gaming realism exclusively to GeForce GPUs.
- Added support for CUDA 2.2 for improved performance in GPU Computing applications.
- Extra performance in several 3D applications (compared to 182 series drivers):
Up to 11% performance increase in Call of Duty: World at War
Up to 5% performance increase Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts
Up to 22% performance increase Crysis: Warhead with antialiasing enabled
Up to 11% performance increase in Fallout 3 with antialiasing enabled
Up to 14% performance increase in Far Cry 2
Up to 45% performance increase in Mirror's Edge with antialiasing enabled
- Support for GeForce Plus Power Pack #3.
- Numerous bug fixes.

Zotac announces GeForce GTX 275 couple
Zotac has now revealed its take on the newest member of the GeForce 200 family, the GTX 275. The 'regular' GTX 275 and the AMP! Edition GTX 275 both make use of the stock design and have 240 Processing Cores, a 448-bit memory interface and 896MB of GDDR3 memory, a dual-slot cooler, DirectX 10 support, 3-way SLI readiness and two DVI outputs.

"We were looking to deliver the absolute best performance for the money with our new Zotac GeForce GTX 275 series. With 240 stream processors, 896MB of GDDR3 memory and a 448-bit memory interface, the Zotac GeForce GTX 275 is the best bang-for-the-buck graphics card a demanding gamer can purchase," said Carsten Berger, marketing director, Zotac International. "The Zotac GeForce GTX 275 AMP! Edition takes performance even higher with a completely tweaked and tuned GeForce GTX 275 graphics processor and faster clocked GDDR3 memory."

The stock GeForce GTX 275 has GPU, shader and memory clocks of 633, 1404 and 2268 MHz respectively, while the AMP! version goes up to 702, 1512 and 2520 MHz. The GTX 275 AMP! is listed in Europe with prices going as low as 246.30 Euro.

GeForce 182.50 drivers released
As you'd expect, Nvidia has paired up the launch of the GeForce GTX 275 with a new driver release but although the company was talking about the 185 series, it has put the GeForce 182.50 driver up on its website. Coming with the version 9.09.0203 PhysX software, the WHQL-certified 182.50 has support for the GeForce 6, 7, 8, 9 and 200 series cards (including the GTX 275) and features:

- Optimized single GPU and SLI support for upcoming PC games
- Numerous bug fixes

Palit claims to have first custom GeForce GTX 275
Setting itself apart from most board builders, Palit has now announced a GeForce GTX 275, but not just any GTX 275, a custom-designed one. Pictured below, the card features a 4-phase PWM power circuit, and a dual-slot, dual-fan cooler, but includes stock clock - 633, 1404 and 2268 MHz for the GPU, shaders and 1GB of GDDR3 memory respectively.

Other than those above and the frog on its box, the Palit GTX 275 features a 448-bit memory interface, DirectX 10 and 3-way SLI support, two DVI outputs and PhysX capabilities. The card can already be found at Novatech with a price tag of أ‚آ£218.49.

Nvidia delivers third GeForce Power Pack
Reminding us of a feature that's supposed to be one of the selling points of GeForce graphics cards, Nvidia has today released the third GeForce Power Pack. Available for download here, the pack includes the following:

- benchmark demo of Star Tales, a PhysX-supporting social networking game
- custom PhysX patch for Ascaron's Sacred 2: Fallen Angel
- SETI@home (CUDA-enabled)
- trial version of MotionDSP's vReveal video enhancement software (CUDA-enabled)
- PhysX screensaver

Is it us, or does the pack get less exciting with every new release? (BEd: It's us for sure.)

Nvidia announces GeForce GTX 275
Since AMD has given its fanboys a little something today, Nvidia has to give its fans something 'new' to chew on too. Enter, the GeForce GTX 275, a 55nm GT200b-powered card aimed at countering the Radeon HD 4890 that claimed to offer "absolute best price-performance for today's value-conscious gamers."

Seen below, the GTX 275 has a 448-bit memory interface and 896 or 1792MB of GDDR3 memory, DirectX 10 and 3-way SLI support, PhysX, CUDA, and 240 Processing Cores. In its 'standard' version, the new card has GPU, shader and memory frequencies of 633, 1404 and 2268 MHz respectively and a price tag going from $229-$249.

According to Nvidia, the GeForce GTX 275, which will be offered by Asus, BFG, Colorful, EVGA, Gainward, Galaxy, Gigabyte, Innovision, Leadtek, MSI, Palit, Sparkle, Zotac, PNY, Point of View, and XFX, will become available on or before April 14, depending on region. Certain stores already have the card in stock but for global availability we'll just have to wait a couple of weeks.

Together with the GeForce GTX 275, Nvidia is launching the GeForce Release 185 drivers which (apparently) include performance improvements and new features like the Ambient Occlusion setting (click here for info on the GeForce 185.63 leak).

Virgin Mobile gets cosy with Opera Mini
Virgin Mobile USA has now become the first US carrier to embrace Opera Software's small mobile wonder, the Opera Mini browser. According to the agreement signed by Opera and Virgin Mobile, the latter will be pre-loading Opera Mini on a number of its handsets and will offer the browser as a free application download for prepaid customers via the VirginXL download storefront.

"This partnership is a great way for Opera to reach Virgin Mobile USA's large customer base in the United States," said Opera CEO Jon S. von Tetzchner. "It demonstrates that Virgin Mobile USA recognizes Opera as a valuable service for its customers, who will now be able to enjoy Opera Mini's speed and amazing feature set while browsing on the go."

The Opera Mini build for Virgin Mobile has support for both English and Spanish and basically includes all the features offered by the free to download 4.2 version.

MSI comes up with two Radeon HD 4890 cards
Officially joining the Radeon HD 4890 launch party, MSI has revealed two cards based on the (let's say) new RV790 chip. Dubbed R4890-T2D1G and R4890-T2D1G-OC, the cards are based on the reference model and offer DirectX 10.1 support, CrossFireX readiness, 1GB of GDDR5 memory, a 256-bit memory interface, and dual-DVI connectivity.

In terms of specs, the R4890-T2D1G is all stock with a 850 MHz GPU and 3900 MHz memory, while the R4890-T2D1G-OC goes up to 880 MHz and 3996 MHz. No word on pricing yet but you can expect them so hover between $240 and $270-$280.
