Star Citizen trailer shows slick space combat, snazzy graphics
AMD brought several game developers on stage during its Radeon R9 290X reveal earlier this week. One of them was Chris Roberts, whose crowd-funded space sim Star Citizen has raised over $20 million to date. Roberts had a new trailer to show off, but the low resolution of the live feed didn't do it justice. Fortunately, the trailer has now made its way to YouTube. I recommend blowing this one up to full screen at 1080p.

Intel reportedly seeking partner for TV service
Intel's television service may have hit a snag. For more than two years, the chip maker has been working on a streaming service and an accompanying set-top box. The product was supposed to debut this year, but AllThingsD says the whole project could be nixed if Intel doesn't find a partner to help with funding and distribution. More worryingly, the site claims Intel still hasn't signed a content deal with a major programming provider.

Report: Prototype Microsoft tech streams Halo 4 to PC, Windows Phone
Ooh. Well, this is exciting. According to The Verge, Microsoft demonstrated a prototype game streaming service during an internal meeting yesterday. "Sources familiar" with the meeting claim Halo 4 was shown running on both a PC and a Windows Phone handset.

That's not a Steam console; it's a Steam PC
Slowly but surely, Valve's plans for Steam in the living room are coming into focus. On Monday, we learned about SteamOS, a Linux-based operating system that will stream games from local PCs. On Wednesday, Valve revealed that a range of SteamOS-powered machines will be available from different hardware vendors. Another announcement is scheduled for Friday morning. Details about a new kind of input device are expected.

Microsoft said to consolidate Windows, Windows Phone app stores
Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 have a common software foundation, but their app libraries are currently separate. That could all change soon. Quoting sources wise to Microsoft's plans, The Verge reports that the company intends to consolidate its app stores for the two operating systems.
