Glitch At Best Buy Cancels BioShock Infinite Pre-Orders
Best Buy strikes again. If you pre-ordered your game with them, you might want to give them a call. If you want better pre-order options, Microsoft is handing out 1600 MS points with the game and Amazon gives you a bunch of exclusive in-game content as well as free shipping.
Last night an issue struck 3,000 customers who pre-ordered BioShock Infinite at Best Buy, effectively canceling their orders, Side Questing reports. The glitch hit pre-orders for both PS3 and Xbox 360, predominantly online transactions.

Kaspersky Update Hoses Internet Access For XP Users Maybe it is just me but I don't have any sympathy for people (including businesses) that are still running XP. Jeez, update your damn OS folks. An update was just released that should address the issue, what I will need you to do is: To get XP users Internet connectivity (temporarily), please disable the Web AV component of your protection policy for your managed computers. 'Operation Decoy File' To Help Deter Online Piracy Something like this might work in Japan but, at least in other countries, I don't think it would be a deterrent at all. In fact, it would probably just piss people off. While this may seem ultimately naïve for international online folk, the ordinary Japanese citizen is generally averse to online piracy and downloading. Most people tend to be of the opinion that it's simply not worth the risk to illegally download movies or music even with the country being close to the top of the list for bandwidth speeds and Internet connectivity. So while this plan apparently called "Operation Decoy File" may seem unnecessary, it may actually work in this country. Comments Read More ...
Students Hurt By The Digital Divide I like how this article never considered the obvious solution....quit assigning homework that requires internet access. Problem solved, bajillions of dollars saved. As a result, in order to complete digital assignments, these kids are forced to find sources of free Internet access outside of school. While the library is often an option, hours can be limited, particularly in the evening. As the WSJ piece details, many of these students are increasingly turning to free WiFi at places like McDonald's to complete their homework. Comments Read More ...
