(PR) RotoSub and Noctua Announce Partnership for PC Fans with Noise Cancellation
Noise reduction specialist RotoSub and renowned quiet cooling fan manufacturer Noctua today announced a strategic partnership agreement for the development and commercialisation of PC fans with integrated Active Noise Cancellation (ANC). A first prototype of a Noctua fan with integrated RotoSub ANC technology will be shown at Computex Taipei next week.
Active Noise Cancellation (also referred to as Active Noise Control or Active Noise Reduction, ANC) is the technique of using sound waves to reduce noise by means of an effect called phase cancellation or destructive interference. Lars Strömbäck and Mårten Oretorp from RotoSub have invented a system (RotoSub Active Noise Control, R-ANC) that allows a fan to emit the sound signal that cancels out the original sound of the fan and thereby greatly reduces the overall noise emission.

Sapphire Pure White B75M-MA Motherboard Detailed
It looks like Sapphire wants slices of not just the performance and enthusiast pies, but also the high-volume mainstream one. Its latest creation is a motherboard based on Intel's small business-oriented B75 chipset, the Pure White B75M-MA. Built in the micro-ATX form-factor, this board doesn't add too much over the B75's feature set. To begin with, its LGA1155 socket, which supports current generation Core "Ivy Bridge" and previous generation Core "Sandy Bridge" processors, is powered by a 4+1 phase VRM, which draws power from an 8-pin EPS connector. That's a giveaway that a performance/enthusiast design team was behind this mainstream motherboard.
The LGA1155 socket is wired to two DDR3 DIMM slots, supporting up to 16 GB of dual-channel DDR3 memory; and a PCI-Express 3.0 x16 slot. Three PCI-Express 2.0 x1 slots that are wired to the B75 PCH, make up the rest of the all-PCIe layout. Storage connectivity includes one SATA 6 Gb/s, and three SATA 3 Gb/s ports. The board provides a total of four USB 3.0 ports (two on the rear-panel, two via headers). 6+2 channel HD audio, a number of USB 2.0 ports, a keyboard/mouse combo PS/2, and gigabit Ethernet make for the rest of the connectivity. Display outputs include DVI and D-Sub. Expect competitive pricing.

LEPA Readies Liquid CPU Cooler with Slim Block
LEPA is working on a closed-loop liquid CPU cooler, which features an "ultra slim" CPU block. Called the HDB120, this closed-loop cooler appears to have its pump located with the radiator, rather than with the block. As a result, its block is no different in form and function, than a DIY CPU water block. It is just 12 mm-thick, with its coolant tubes factory-fitted on its side, rather than on its top. LEPA plans to unveil (and probably demonstrate) the HDB120 at the upcoming Computex 2012 event.

Sanwa Supply Intros USB 3.0 Front-Panel Header Adapter for Ready Boost Internal Ports
This tiny accessory from Japan's Sanwa Supply might come handy for boosting system responsiveness on the cheap, using the Ready Boost flash-drive caching feature available with select versions of Windows. The 800-TK021 from Sanwa is a small blue PCB, which fixes itself to the motherboard on one end, using a standard USB 3.0 front-panel header, and gives out two USB 3.0 type-A ports.
The ports can then be used to stash away discrete USB 3.0 storage devices (such as flash-drives, DRM sticks, HDDs, USB 3.0 portable SSDs). One incentive is using a discrete flash drive to speed up system responsiveness using Ready Boost. On sale, the 800-TK021 is priced at 780 JPY (US $9), it could be distributed under different labels, in different markets.
