New Max Payne 3 screenshots
Some new screenshots of the upcoming Max Payne 3 have surfaced online, the three screenshots accompany some interviews from GameSpot and IGN over the past week. The screenshots show some melee action (it looks like Max can fly-kick!), some dual-wielding action in fat, bald Max form as well as the old-school Max we're all used to. It looks as though we might get some flashback action, or maybe some form of memories or dreams? There's Max with hair, in his old-school clothing as well as the fatter, older, balder Max.

New Max Payne 3 screenshots
Whatever it is, I can't wait. The new screenshots look insane. I can't wait for some gameplay footage.

Popcorn Hour A-300 gets launched
Syabas have launched the next-generation Popcorn Hour A-300 today. The previous versions all used Sigma chipsets, where the A-300 is no different. It sports the SMP-8647 SoC with a 800MHz MIPS CPU at the core. It also includes true GbE (part of the core SoC package) in the media streamer. The A-300 is housed in an aluminium body and is fanless, so its perfectly silent for your lounge room.

Popcorn Hour A-300 gets launched
Sigma also now supports Real Media decode in the 8647, which means the A-300 gets the same codec compatibility as most of the other Realtek-based media streamers. Like most media streamers today, there's also an included app market for premium video services. Unfortunately, the A-300 does not include HDMI 1.4 or 3D Blu-ray ISO support as the SMP 8647 does not support it. The A-300 is expected to drop on October 18, 2011.

Raging about RAGE on PC? Well, look inside for some fixes
It was just yesterday I was posting about the negatively reviewed, RAGE from id Software, but today is another day and there are some things you can fix if you'd like to read below. RAGE suffers from tearing, massive texture pop-in, and just a total lack of graphical options to tweak and adjust. For the once great id Software to fall to their knees for some of that console pie... it's just very, sad.

Raging about RAGE on PC? Well, look inside for some fixes
But, if you've picked up the title and want to get things running smoother, there are some things you can do. First of all, if you're an AMD Radeon user, you can grab the latest RAGE-optimized Radeon drivers here. If you're an NVIDIA user, you can grab the green team Battlefield 3 driver (which also optimizes RAGE) if you click here.

There is no developer console by default, but if you'd like one... right click on RAGE in your library on Steam, click properties and select the launch options, then add "+set com_allowconsole 1" in the box. Note: This will take away your ability to gain achievements. Then, by pressing the tilde key like usual, the console can be launched. From the console you can then type "listcvars" or "listcmds" to see everything you're able to tweak.

If you don't want to lose the achievements or mess around in the console, you can just add the following text to your launch options in RAGE:

"+cvaradd g_fov 12 +com_skipIntroVideo 1 +image_anisotropy 16 +image_usecompression 0 +g_showplayershadow 1 +m_smooth 0"

What this will do is increase your field of view, take away the intro video, set anisotropic filtering to 16X, take away mouse smoothing and kill the compression that people are having trouble with. Remember that everyone is different, so you can mix and match or change those settings to your personal taste. Also, adding "+r_swapInterval 1" will also force V-Sync, which should help with some of the tearing.

Bethesda has also released a few tips on how to get the game well:

The higher the resolution at which the game renders and the higher the anti-aliasing setting, the more texture data is needed to texture the environment. If you do not have a high-end CPU you may momentarily see blurrier textures and texture popping when the view changes quickly.

If you have a processor with few cores and you have a high end NVIDIA graphics card then you can try turning on the "GPU Transcode" menu option in the video settings menu in RAGE. By enabling this option a large percentage of the texture calculations are moved to the graphics processor (GPU). However, this option is not available on all graphics hardware and may not appear in the menu if your hardware does not support the necessary features.

FCC requires that all mobile phones have GPS by 2018
The Federal Communications Commission has announced plans that it requires all mobiles phones to sport GPS chips embedded, by 2018. The goal is to improve 911 services by increasing location tracking and accuracy to better assist during emergencies. Most smartphones already sport GPS by default, but a number of platform feature phones still rely on cell tower triangulation for location services, a process that is not as accurate as GPS.

FCC requires that all mobile phones have GPS by 2018
The FCC notes that without the ruling, there should be 85% of mobile phones packing GPS, the plan also includes all VoIP-based products, too. This new plan is just a few months ahead of the FCC's previous announcement of a five-step action plan to improve deployment of next-generation 911 (NG911). NG911's plan is to include the ability for users in distress to send texts, photos and video streams directly to 911 operators, all of which would considerably speed up and improve rescue efforts. No date is set for NG911 as of yet.

Sharkoon Intros Two New Micro-ATX Gaming Cases Supporting Long Graphics Cards
Sharkoon introduces two micro-ATX cases, which despite its compact form factor, can contain graphic cards up to 36 cm in length: The Sharkoon MS120 mATX and the Sharkoon 140 mATX are especially aimed at gamers who are looking for a handy companion at LAN parties and at the same time not wanting to miss out on extra-long graphics power.

Sharkoon Intros Two New Micro-ATX Gaming Cases Supporting Long Graphics Cards
The two black finished cases differ in their front fan configurations: The MS120 is equipped with two blue illuminating 120 mm front fans behind a mesh insert. The MS140 instead features a blue illuminating 140 mm front fan. The MS120 is a little taller at 375 mm than the MS140 at 368 mm.

Sharkoon Intros Two New Micro-ATX Gaming Cases Supporting Long Graphics Cards
In addition, the functionality of both is the same: Both cases contain auxiliary audio and three USB2.0 ports, and a SuperSpeed USB3.0 port on the front of the I/O panel. Inside contains an optical drive, an externally accessible 3.5 inch drive and four extension card slots, and up to four 3.5 inch hard drives or up to six 2.5 inch hard drives or SSDs. The data mediums are inserted lengthwise within the two suspended mounting panels. On both panels, either two 3.5 inch hard drives can be decoupled installed or three 2.5 inch drives can be firmly attached. If necessary, one of the two panels can be removed to make room for the up to 36 cm long graphic card; thus comfortably accommodating high-end models, such as the Nvidias GeForce GTX590 or AMDs Radeon 6990. As a trade-off for the removable panel, an additional hard drive bracket is added to the base area.

Despite its compact design, efficient cooling of the housing is ensured: The airflow through the pre-installed front fan is supported through the air intake on the side panel. By surrendering the supported PCIe-Slot on the mainboard for a graphic card cooler, a filter-protected 120mm fan can be mounted to the base of the case. Additionally, a fixture to mount an 80 or 92mm fan is located in the rear. The case measures 420 x 175 x 375 (MS120) or 368 (MS140) millimeters, the empty weight is 4 kg.

End customers can find the Sharkoon MS120 mATX and the Sharkoon MS140 mATX in authorized retailers.

Prices:

- Sharkoon MS120 mATX: MSRP 34.90 euros
- Sharkoon MS140 mATX: MSRP 29.90 euros
