Netflix-DreamWorks Deal is More Spin Than Win
The big "win" for Netflix? The company will be adding more content to its streaming service after making a deal with DreamWorks. The bad news? This deal doesn't take place until sometime in 2013.
This brings us to the part of the agreement that really makes the Times' story so puzzling. Tucked down into the piece is this nugget: Netflix won't start distributing DreamsWorks titles until 2013. That's more than a year away, and even then it's unclear how many films and TV shows Netflix will receive. I think it's fair to say that Netflix is in trouble with subscribers, and managers need to bolster their streaming library in a significant way sooner rather than later.

Microsoft Apologizes For Consoles Banned By Mistake
Stephen Toulouse, head of the Policy and Enforcement team for Xbox LIVE, issued a statement and apology today to Xbox 360 owners that were banned due to a software error that mistakenly identified their consoles as modified. The company has restored the accounts and given the owners 3 months of free Xbox LIVE and 1600 Microsoft points ($20).
Within a few business days, we will issue the primary account holder on the impacted console a credit for three months of Xbox LIVE Gold and 1600 Microsoft points. Austrian Hackers Publish Private Police Data
A group of hackers, going by the name AnonAustria, have published the names and home addresses of the people that will be arresting them next week.
An Austrian hackers group has published the names and home addresses of nearly 25,000 police officials, a move critics say compromises the individuals' personal security. Police say the data hacked by AnonAustria contains private information for more than 24,938 law enforcement officials, ranging from beat officers to senior commanders.

Scientists Disarm AIDS Virus' Attack on Immune System
Research scientists have discovered a possible way to disable the AIDS virus and lead to a vaccine against AIDS. The research is in the laboratory stage at present time and has not been in clinical trials yet, but the results coming out of the labs are very promising.

Cisco surveyed 2853 people split roughly equally between college students and recently employed college graduates ages 21 to 29 in 14 countries. The groups were also evenly split between men and women.

Did Netflix Create Qwikster Just to Sell It?
Business analysts are donning their tinfoil hats and going down the conspiracy path with Netflix. Perhaps Netflix is looking for a convenient way out of the DVD rental market by splitting Qwikster off into a neat package and selling off its DVD rental business. Taking into consideration how rapidly the changes took place over at Netflix, this assumption begins to make sense.
"The separation of online streaming and DVDs will set the stage for spinning off or selling the DVD business in the future," George Askew, an analyst with Stifel Nicolaus & Co., told Bloomberg News.
