Cooler Master Launches CM Elite 371 Case
Cooler Master's Elite series of cases is quite popular since it provides a wealth of features at a relatively small price point. Today, Cooler Master is adding a new addition to that line, the CM Elite 371 case. It is a mid tower case aimed at the budget market, but that doesn't mean the case has budget features. It has three external 5.25" bays, one external 3.5" bay, and five internal 3.5" bays. The CM Elite 371 has plenty of interior room as it can even fit video cards as long as the AMD HD 5970. On the front of the case at the top you will find two USB 2.0 ports, audio in/out connectors, and the power and reset buttons. Cooling should not be an issue for the case, though Cooler Master does expect you to provide most of the fans. It ships with one rear 120mm fan and then you can add up to two 120mm fans at the top, either a 120 or 140mm fan in the front, two 120mm fans on the left side, and an 80, 92, or 120mm on the bottom. The top and bottom fan positions have dust filters, though curiously no mention was made of one for the front fan.
The Cooler Master CM Elite 371 case should be shipping before long with an expected price of $39.

Sapphire Introduces Radeon HD 6870 TOXIC and Vapor-X Editions
Sapphire Technology has introduced its TOXIC and Vapor-X versions of the AMD Radeon HD 6870 video card. The HD 6870 TOXIC edition is effectively the same as the stock 6870, including 56 texture processing units, 1120 steam processors and a 1024MB GDDR5 buffer, but also includes Sapphire's Vapor-X cooler. This cooler is paired with a factory-overclocked core running at 970MHz and memory clocked at 1150MHz (4.6 Gb/s effective), increasing performance over the standard model. The Vapor-X 6870 is the lower-end model, featuring the Vapor-X cooler but with standard clock speeds of 900MHz (core) and 1050MHZ (memory - 4.2Gb/s effective). Other features across both video cards are 10-phase power control, Sapphire's patented Black Diamond chokes and compatibility with TriXX, Sapphire's overclocking utility. Sapphire did not disclose details on pricing or availability of the new variants, but I'd expect them to be available soon and priced in line with other custom 6870's on the market.

Duke Nukem Forever Gets an Actual Release Date
The game most famously seen as vaporware got a new lease on life last year. Now, Duke Nukem Forever has a solid release date. 2K Games has pegged May 3rd in North America and May 6th everywhere else as the official release date for Duke Nukem Forever, perhaps the most anticipated sequel in all of gaming. You see, DNF was announced over ten years ago but then never saw the light of day for various reasons, including the studio making it being shut down. Late last year, Gearbox Software swooped in to take over the reins and promised DNF would be finished. There was even a playable version available not too long ago which showed that Gearbox was on track with the game. It seems we won't have to wait too much longer to see Duke's long-awaited return to gaming.
Duke Nukem Forever will be launching on the PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360.

Antec Introduces KUHLER H2O 620 Liquid CPU Cooler
Antec has introduced its latest liquid CPU cooler, the KUHLER H2O 620. The new cooler aims to balance "ease of use, performance and price," according to Antec. As with other ready-made liquid CPU cooling solutions in the market, the KUHLER is pre-filled and factory sealed. This, of course, makes installation easy and leaves no maintenance for the end user. The KUHLER features a copper base plate for good heat conduction, paired with bendable tubes and a 120mm fan running between 1450 and 2000 RPM to cool the radiator. Dynamic switching of the fan speed enables effective and quiet cooling. The pump also has a MTBF of 50,000 hours, ensuring reliable cooling. Antec's internal testing shows that this new cooler increased the performance of the Core i7-980X by 20% compared to the stock cooler. The Antec KUHLER H2O 620 liquid CPU cooler will be compatible with Intel's LGA 775, 1155, 1156 and 1366 sockets along with AMD's AM2, AM3, AM2+ and AM3+ sockets. The KUHLER will retail for US$69.99.

Larry Page to Be Google's New CEO, Eric Schmidt to Remain as Executive Chairman
This bit of news is a bit surprising as Google has just announced that co-founder Larry Page will be the new CEO starting April 4th, with current CEO Eric Schmidt staying on as Executive Chairman and advisor to Page and co-founder Sergey Brin. The news was revealed in Google's fourth quarter earnings report and it is certainly a big bit of news. Page will assume day-to-day operation and product development and strategy responsibilities. Eric Schmidt will be an advisor for him and Brin, with Brin's title being changed to simply Co-Founder. Brin's new title will have him focusing on new products while Schmidt will also be focused on external things like deals, partnerships, and customers. Eric Schmidt clarified some things in a blog post and said the change is being made to make Google as efficient as possible. He also said that Larry Page is ready to lead and that the organizational shuffle will keep him, Page, and Brin working together for quite some time. Under Schmidt's leadership, Google has expanded far beyond just a search engine so it will be interesting to see what Page can do to keep Google an industry leader in all its various holdings.

Verizon Appeals FCC's Net Neutrality Rules
That certainly didn't take long at all. After voicing some displeasure right away with the new net neutrality rules the FCC passed last month, Verizon has now appealed that decision. Verizon has gone to the US Court of Appeals in Washington, D.C. to officially take issue with the FCC's net neutrality policy and specifically how it asserts broad authority on the Internet and broadband networks. Yeah, it is a pretty big appeal Verizon has but it doesn't specify exactly what it takes issue with. One can ascertain that it is about wireless since Verizon and several other companies feel that wireless should largely be left out of any net neutrality decisions. Verizon believes that the FCC's decision oversteps the bounds set by Congress and presents uncertainty for the communications industry as a whole. I feel like this could be a long appeals case and we'll keep you informed of anything that comes out of it.
