Gainward makes Phantom GTX 580 with 3GB
Following the recent release of its Geforce GTX 570 Phantom card, Gainward decided to add yet another GPU to the Phantom series, the GTX 580. The custom cooler also makes this card a bit large, so bear in minde that it does take more than two slots.

GeForce GTX 560 pictures leaked
With the rumored release of NVIDIA's revamped mid-range challenger, GeForce GTX 560, less than a week away, the flood gates have opened for details on the new card. To be honest, there's not a lot to see here and it's hard to tell difference between this card and a stock GTX 460, even with the shroud off. Christmas season wasn't good for European retailers
In news that should come as a surprise to no-one, the Christmas season wasn't so good for European PC retailers. According to IDC, PC shipments across the EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) region managed to grow by 2.4 per cent, although this was weaker than predicted 4.3 per cent expansion in the fourth quarter. The combination of weak consumer demand, the tail end of the recession and the rabid customer interest in tablets are said to have fueled the drop. This was especially apparent in the consumer - as opposed to business - sector, where PC sales dipped by 10.5 per cent.

Opera browser gets inside Bravia HDTVs and players
Opera, the web browser traditionally associated with mobile devices, and Sony have teamed up on a scheme to put the former's software onto the later's Bravia HDTVs and Blu-ray players. The network-connected hardware would support some fledling Internet standards as a result, such as HTML5, HbbTV and OIPF. At the same time, it would offer users an option other than the Google TV platform that's being embedded into some Sony hardware.
