It’s on no rare occasion that manufacturers of various devices decide to cooperate with some of the more well-known brands in order to present exclusive devices, and extract additional money from the users that like this kind of exclusiveness. If you take a look at mobile phones, we’ve had models signed by Armani, Ferrari, Dolce Gabbana… Stylised casings with a nod towards famous games or car brands are nothing new and exotic. Finally, we come to portable PCs - the recently presented HP Mini Vivienne Tam Edition with its butterflies, Acer Ferrari and the likes of those… This time around, it’s ASUS’ turn, with their VX6 netbook designed in accordance with Lamborghini’s very own Murciélago LP640 Roadster car.

iPhone users most loyal to their platform
iPhone users are still the most loyal to the platform by a wide margin, Zokem agency found in a recent study. Apple's platform was unique in commanding not only high loyalty from existing users, 85 percent of which planned to buy again, but being the most frequently sought after by those jumping over from competitors. Android had a higher loyalty, at 89 percent of existing owners likely to buy again, but there was higher overall turnover and fewer using another mobile OS likely to choose it as their next platform. RIM's BlackBerry and Samsung's Bada were middling in terms of commitment to the platform. HP/Palm's webOS and Symbian were the least loyal of all among those asked, with the vast majority of both likely to switch to another platform.

AMD launches APU for embedded systems
AMD introduced the first-ever Fusion solution for embedded systems, the G-Series accelerated processing units which are structurally similar to the E-Series chips and feature one/two x86 Bobcat cores and an integrated DirectX 11 GPU. The G-Series APUs come in a BGA packaging, are clocked at up to 1.6 GHz, and can be used for digital signage, internet-ready set top boxes, mobile and desktop thin clients, casino gaming machines, point-of-sale kiosks, and small form factor PCs, as well as numerous single board computers (SBCs).

Samsung announces Galaxy S2 for February 13
Samsung has officially begun the hype-building campaign for the successor of the 10+ million selling Galaxy S smartphone, which is scheduled to be officially unveiled in Barcelona, just before the Mobile World Congress, on February 13th.

iPad holds over 87% of tablet PC market
IDC has reported that the Apple iPad controls 87.4 percent of the media tablet market as of the Q3, while Amazon controls the standalone e-reader market at 41.5 percent. A media tablet is defined as a 5-to-14-inch tablet shaped device with color displays running lightweight OS, such as Android or iOS. Furthermore, IDC separated tablet PCs from the group, defining those as running a Windows OS, and being based on x86 processors. Apple made tablets trendy when it launched the iPad in April of last year, and competitors have been scrambling to keep up. The company sold over 7 million devices in the last quarter (Q4), alone.
