Microsoft even set sales records and, according to the report, ran out of stock of the Xbox 360 in December. Despite high watermarks like Microsoft selling 8 million Kinect accessories in 60 days, as well as more Xbox 360 units than it ever has before, 2010's overall gaming sales shrunk compared with last year. Medical Server Hacked by Gamers Playing CoD:BO
You have to wonder what the hell these idiots were thinking when they hacked servers at a radiology center so they could host Call of Duty: Black Ops games. Thanks to 4LC4PON3 for the link. Apparently a New Hampshire-based Seacoast Radiology noticed a massive loss of bandwidth, after a group of gamers hacked into the medical group's server in order to host some Call of Duty Black Ops games. A thorough investigation is currently underway. It's unclear at this stage how long these folks were playing for, but apparently the hackers did nothing but play Call of Duty! Comments

Sony Closes CD Factory In NJ, 300 Lose Jobs
Sony has laid off three hundred workers and closed the doors on its New Jersey CD factory. The facility has been making CDs and vinyl records for over 50 years. "In light of the current economic environment and challenges facing the physical media industry, Sony DADC is taking additional steps to reduce cost from our supply chain network in order to remain competitive," a Sony representative said in a statement. During a conference call yesterday, Intel's CEO Paul Otellini discussed the company's plans to compete with ARM, processor manufacturing, Intel's record earnings and more. Otellini was quick to address tablets, a market currently centered on Apple's iPad, which runs on Apple's flavor of the ARM processor design. IBM has rolled out another supercomputer that plays games against humans. This time around, the game show Jeopardy is the focus of all that computing power (better than chess). Personally, would have that thing Folding like crazy for Team #33! Today, IBM rolled out its Jeopardy-playing computer, a whiz machine named Watson that was four years in the works. In today's demonstration match for the media Watson played against Brad Rutter and Ken Jennings, the two great (human) Jeopardy champions who will provide opposition for Watson in a two-day exhibition match.
