Samsung i9100 - is it the dual-core Galaxy S?
It looks as though someone is lucky enough to be playing with the Samsung GT-i9100, the user calls is the "Galaxy 2" and tweet's that it's "so technically advanced" giving thanks to it's dual core processor.
I've been posting a bit of news in regards to the upcoming dual-core phone from Samsung - it seems to be the only one who's stepped into the limelight thus far - it should be based on the previously posted Coretex-A9 Orion chip which is being sampled now.
But - nothing in the tech business is 100%. But - the current Galaxy S had a code name of GT-i9000 so one would presume this is the upgrade to the Galaxy, with Android's Gingerbread OS powering it also.

Silicon Power SDHC Class 10 32GB Memory Card
Introduction
We all have products that use the Secure Digital Cards. SD has been adapted by nearly all consumer product makers in one form or another. Which form is another story entirely, as there are so many and within each category there are speed ratings. Some devices need to be able to operate above a certain speed to be able to handle the tasks given. This is where the class structure comes in.
Most storage products are rated at a maximum speed, the highest peak performance possible under ideal conditions. This works out well when everything you are doing is well within specifications, but there can be times when a minimum speed is required. SD products are rated at a minimum speed, the Speed Card Rating. A Class 2 SD card can write at least 2MB/s, a Class 4 SD card can write at least 4MB/s and so on. Devices like HD video recorders require a minimum sustained write throughput. If your device needs to be able to write at 6MB/s but can only write at 4MB/s, then your video will suffer from dropped frames, lost audio or be completely corrupted. Currently Class 10 is the fastest available on the market and it has a minimum speed of 10MB/s.
Today we are looking at the Silicon Power SDHC Class 10 with 32GB of capacity. This capacity size makes it perfect for photographers or those looking to record high definition video. LetÂ’s take a look at the specs first up.
Specifications, Pricing and Availability
I have to admit I really like the new class standard that measures the minimum performance and glad they got off of the ‘x’ standard. Silicon Power has released their new Class 10 SDHC cards in four capacities; 4, 8, 16 and 32GB. To go larger in this format you have to look towards SDXC (eXtended Capacity) standard.
Silicon Power isnÂ’t in the US market as heavily as it once was. We were only able to find one US seller of the Silicon Power SDHC Class 10 32GB and it was a specialty shop catering to professional users. All Pro Sound lists the 32GB model like we are reviewing today for 134.99 USD. They also list the rest of the Class 10 SDHC cards; 4GB (17.49), 8GB (32.34) and 16GB (58.06).
I really wish Silicon Power would import more of their products to the US since they are well made and it would bring the costs down. In relation, we went shopping at Newegg and found other 32GB SCHD Class 10 cards for as low as 59.99.
It should also be noted that Silicon Power offers a lifetime warranty with their SDHC products.

GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 480 SOC 1536 MB Video Card
Introduction
YouÂ’ve got to feel a little bad for some of these NVIDIA partners; you have to wonder how much they knew about the GTX 580. We also wonder whatÂ’s going to happen with the GTX 480. One would assume that itÂ’s going to hang around for a bit as companies like GIGABYTE has thrown a bit of R&D into the creation of the beast weÂ’re looking at today, but everythingÂ’s a little up in the air at the moment.
GIGABYTE got us the GTX 480 SOC nice and quickly, so we donÂ’t have a full retail package today. Instead of checking out the box and whatÂ’s inside it weÂ’ll instead be getting stuck straight into the card itself, which as weÂ’ve already mentioned is the GTX 480 SOC.
If youÂ’re not too sure what the SOC series is, itÂ’s GIGABYTEs higher end Super Overclock Series which has been fairly impressive since the launch of the series. Concentrating on both high end models and really overclockable midrange ones likes the GTX 460, itÂ’s hit the market well and has been quite popular. Today we find out what the series can do for the GTX 480.
The Card
The other day we had a look at the GIGABYTE HD 6850 which carried with it the Windforce cooler. Today the GTX 480 SOC weÂ’re looking at carries the same series cooler, but the upgraded Windforce 3x which carries with it as you can see, three fans instead of two.
Unlike the MSI Lightning version we looked at recently thereÂ’s no third power connector here. Instead weÂ’ve just got the standard 8-Pin / 6-Pin ones. The card PCB is also not extra tall, so you shouldnÂ’t run into any problems when it comes to installing it into your PC. Across the top youÂ’ll also see we have the two SLI connectors in the event you want to put four of these bad boys together.
Connectivity also doesnÂ’t hold any surprises with two Dual-Link DVI connectors and a single Mini HDMI. While we donÂ’t have the package on hand, going off the press documents that GIGABYTE sent it looks like a mini HDMI to HDMI cable is included along with the standard DVI to VGA connector.
You may have noticed in the first picture a little button towards the bottom of the card. The GIGABYTE GTX 480 SOC sports a dual BIOS setup and instead of the normal BIOS / back up BIOS setup, weÂ’ve instead weÂ’ve got a standard BIOS and an extreme overclocking BIOS. The latter is designed for LN2 users and when the light is....... Read the full content here in your browser!

This new offering extends the available options for flexible, on-demand high performance computing (HPC) within the Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud.
Supercomputing has become an important tool in the process of creating commercial products, from design and simulation-based testing to production. However, the upfront cost of acquiring these systems has, until recently, limited their use to government and university-based research facilities or businesses willing to make the large up-front capital investment. By making GPUs available through Amazon EC2, AWS is now making this available to businesses of all sizes.
"With Amazon Cluster GPU Instances, our customers now have the power of high performance computing, the efficiency and speed of GPUs and the highly available, scalable and affordable cloud environment our customers have come to expect from AWS," said Peter De Santis, general manager of Amazon EC2. "We're excited to help our customers access the raw power of GPU technology and look forward to the innovation this will enable."
"The ability to run a larger number of more detailed simulations, with an on-demand pricing model and the scalability of Amazon EC2, enables companies to build better, safer, more reliable products," said Andy Keane, general manager, Tesla business at NVIDIA. "GPU supercomputing, through AWS, gives users a flexible computing facility that allows them to scale their computing needs based on user demand."
Hundreds of applications have already been ported to the NVIDIA® CUDA™ massively parallel architecture upon which all its current GPUs are based. CUDA-accelerated applications benefit from being able to access the hundreds of cores in a GPU to run, in some cases, orders of magnitude faster than on conventional processors. Some of the applications ready to be used on Amazon Cluster GPU Instances include mental images' RealityServer® (interactive photo-realistic rendering) and Mathworks' MATLAB (leading technical computing software).
NVIDIA Tesla GPUs, designed specifically for high performance computing environments, deliver transformative performance increases across a wide range of HPC fields, including drug discovery, product design, structural analysis, financial simulations, video transcoding, hurricane and tsunami modeling, cancer research, car design, even studying the formation of galaxies.

Intel® Many Integrated Core (MIC) Demonstrations
During SC10, Intel conducted demonstrations showcasing the real-world capabilities of the recently announced Intel® MIC architecture. These included using Intel® MIC architecture as a co-processor running financial derivative Monte Carlo demonstrations that boasted twice the performance of those conducted with prior generation technologies. The Monte Carlo application for Intel® MIC was generated using standard C++ code with an Intel® MIC-enabled version of the Intel® Parallel Studio XE 2011 software development tools, demonstrating how applications for standard Intel CPUs can scale to future Intel® MIC products.
Intel also showcased breakthrough compressed medical imaging developed with Mayo Clinic on “Knights Ferry,” the first Intel MIC design and development kits. This demonstration used compressed signals to rapidly create high-quality images, reducing the time a patient has to spend having an MRI.
